anyone here have or have owned a 70-72 Riv 455?? Man I love those cars! My first Buick was a 70 455 with a turbo 400 trans, factory 2.5 dual exh. I had a leftover spare 70 455 and I stuck it in a 87 Regal and that car was even more fun to drive than any of my GN's or T types. It was a tire smokein beast:)

Not a Buick, but I have a '70 Olds with 455. Big, gas-guzzlin' fun!

I had a 71 GS Stage 1, so I feel ya! Not the Riv but the Skylark body style. What I would give to have that car back, not to mention what it's worth now! headbutt

I own a '71 Riv. 455 th400. Just had the motor rebuilt ..bored .30 over. Just 3k on it now and there is no feeling or sound like it. I love my 97 but that 71 is just a monster. Its a restore project, but a rolling one. No rust. Scored a nice interior on eBay for 200 bucks..needs paint and lots more but even as it is...its the funnest ride Ive ever owned. definitely a head turner

they only made the Boat Tail from '71-'73, not from '70-'72. I've got two '72 Rivieras. although, they did put the 455ci in a few other cars and Rivis over the years

The '70 Riviera is unique automobile. It shared many of the chassis components with the 66-69 Rivieras, but the sheet metal was all new. It was the only Riviera to use fender skirts and had two different sizes of the skirts! It was the first Riviera with the 455, the 67-69 had the 430. It is not considered a boattail, although the powertrain is the same as the one used in the 71-73's although the compression ratio was lowered in 71. The '70 is unique and different and like the Boattails, it can't be mistaken for anything else!

That's a really nice looking car! Split window in the back? Also, I didn't know they had Buicks WAAY back in 1773!

Not a split window but it was designed by Bill Mitchell, the same guy that designed the '63 Vette. (split window)

I'm pretty sure that's a 1973

I had a 455 in my '86 Suburban (best motor for that truck ever!), a 350 in my '73 LeSabre and swapped that for a cadillac 500. I love the 455, it's the best engine ever. Torquey and (relatively) efficient for it's size...

I have a 1970 GS455 Stage1. My best time at the track is a 12.119@111.98 MPH. The car weighs 4100 lbs with nothing in the trunk, 1/2 tank of gas, and me (170 lbs)

I took a video from inside the car on a 12.200@ 110.65 MPH run. The guy next to me was a full second faster, 11.257@ 118.92 MPH.

Welcome Larry!
It looks like the other guy was having a tough time getting the car slowed down.

Nice Ride.

Yeah, I'm not sure if that was tire smoke or valve seals on decel. I treed him (.175/.458), but he flew by me at half track.
