| no prob. when you go buy the epoxy make sure the epoxy is elastic when dry as opposed to rock hard. its an epoxy made for glass.the expansion and contraction of the glass and the surrounding components requires this. _________________ 95 riviera wht s/c...mods are in the works...mildly ported heads, manifolds and intake manifold. bilstein rear conversion. | How does this kind of epoxy compare to rearview mirror adhesive, which I think is kind of like superglue... _________________ '98 Buick Riviera; Gen V 3.25 pulley, N*, VS Cam, 180 stat, Custom PCM (Powrtuner), headers & HF cat , 42.5 lb inj. | true glass adhesive has give to it. the glue that comes with stick on mirrors fails often. it dries too hard.glass epoxy lasts forever. in a colder clime thats more important. _________________ 95 riviera wht s/c...mods are in the works...mildly ported heads, manifolds and intake manifold. bilstein rear conversion. | those be the one's. while more costly than the cheap stuff, they can be used for a ton of projects in and around the car....and they mostly come in 2 parts. premixed are available but are not as good..i didnt go through the prices on the link u sent. but u can find a good variety at a well stocked hardware store. if your lucky even at depot or lowes. _________________ 95 riviera wht s/c...mods are in the works...mildly ported heads, manifolds and intake manifold. bilstein rear conversion. | I just found a Loctite product that they call "Glass Glue" at my local hardware store. It comes in the familiar small Super Glue size tube and is made specifically for adhering glass to glass and has an operating temp well within the range that this mirror will be operating in. I'm going to try it on the piece of mirror I bought and glue that to one of the half broken mirror's that I have. I have two with the heating elements intact and hopefully working. All I can do is ohm them out and see if this one works come heating season. I'll let y'all know how the glue works soon. And report on the Heating portion of this experiment in the hopefully Distant future. Derek, I'm still interested in a group buy of a manufactured mirror if you are successful. _________________ 98 Riv, 102K Miles, EBC, LS1 Ft.Calipers, STB, Addco Rr Sway Bar, 180* stat., SSAC Headers, HF Cat, 1.9's, 105# springs, MPS 3.4, DHP tuned by the Deekster.

| Hi guys, I've been away for quite a bit and just came upon this thread. I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but I honestly don't think that any of these cars came with both heated and dimming mirrors... First of all, I think that a liquid crystal and a 140-degree heater are mutually exclusive just on general principles... After all, if people think that their dimming mirrors are more prone to failure when they are parked a lot in hot climates/direct sun, cooking them with electric heat would just be asking for trouble. Secondly, my '97 has every option but moonroof, and I've had the driver's mirror out of the housing so I could clean the dimmer contacts... Those 2 dimmer wires are the only wires that attach to the back of the glass. Finally, I've looked in the '97, '98 and '99 shop manuals and there is no mention of mirror heat, nor any schematics that show it. Like I said, I'm not posting just for the sadistic joy of it, I just want to make sure that everyone has as much info as possible and isn't possibly operating on a false premise... Mark PS - Speaking of the manuals, their mirror-face replacement procedure does work, but follow it exactly (and slowly, and gently) and cut yourself a good, smooth, flat 2x3x2" piece of wood for the last step. _________________ 97 Riviera L67 - Desert Sandstone - Gutted AB Lid, Kool Blue AF, 180* SuperStat, Hogan 3" DP, ZZP 3.6" MPS; Sensa-Trac struts, Rockford-Fosgate 6x9's; Annoyance-Fixes: Express-Down delete, Full-time juice to Power Port, BRP-power to Glovebox lite, Brake-to-Shift delete, Console-compartment lite, Seat/Mirror Memory in any gear.

Sorry to inform you that many of these did indeed have dimming AND heat, mine included. I'm just trying to get a new replacement for what's existing and broken. To my knowledge MOST of them had dimming (if not all), and heat was optional, usually coming with the heated seat option._________________ '98 Buick Riviera; Gen V 3.25 pulley, N*, VS Cam, 180 stat, Custom PCM (Powrtuner), headers & HF cat , 42.5 lb inj. Hmmm... They should have informed the writers of the shop manuals.
Just for the hell of it, have you had the glass out of the driver's mirror housing? _________________ 97 Riviera L67 - Desert Sandstone - Gutted AB Lid, Kool Blue AF, 180* SuperStat, Hogan 3" DP, ZZP 3.6" MPS; Sensa-Trac struts, Rockford-Fosgate 6x9's; Annoyance-Fixes: Express-Down delete, Full-time juice to Power Port, BRP-power to Glovebox lite, Brake-to-Shift delete, Console-compartment lite, Seat/Mirror Memory in any gear.

| Actually, is snaps into the power adjuster links. Putting it back is a delicate operation, but pulling it out is fairly easy. Do you have the factory manual? _________________ 97 Riviera L67 - Desert Sandstone - Gutted AB Lid, Kool Blue AF, 180* SuperStat, Hogan 3" DP, ZZP 3.6" MPS; Sensa-Trac struts, Rockford-Fosgate 6x9's; Annoyance-Fixes: Express-Down delete, Full-time juice to Power Port, BRP-power to Glovebox lite, Brake-to-Shift delete, Console-compartment lite, Seat/Mirror Memory in any gear.

| Yes, have it out of the housing right now. The heated mirrors have an additional two wires and once removed from the housing it is obvious that it is heated because the heating elements are very visible. Also, on the face of the mirror there are 3 squiggly verticle arrows etched in the corner of the mirror. Sort of the international symbol for heat. BTW Eldo, how have you been.? Youv'e been gone quite a while. Hope all is well. _________________ 98 Riv, 102K Miles, EBC, LS1 Ft.Calipers, STB, Addco Rr Sway Bar, 180* stat., SSAC Headers, HF Cat, 1.9's, 105# springs, MPS 3.4, DHP tuned by the Deekster.

| I do have the 'mirror' assembly snapped out of the housing, but I was not able to push the glass itself out of the plastic bracket that holds the heater element and glass together. _________________ '98 Buick Riviera; Gen V 3.25 pulley, N*, VS Cam, 180 stat, Custom PCM (Powrtuner), headers & HF cat , 42.5 lb inj.
