Well if it isn't one riv for me it's another.

My moms 1990 Riv is having a dying issue. It will start up fine and very quickly and 99% of the time it will run for 10-15 minutes then all of a sudden it will sputter then die. As it dies there is a burst of air that comes out of the throttle body.

After it dies I try to start it again and it will start then almost immediatly die. After two or three tries it catches again and keeps running then the process starts all over.

I will start off by saying a BIG thank you for your help with my thermostat! Ok, Im not sure that I am posting this in the proper place or not. If so, please let me know! On my 1990 Riviera, only during acceleration, the car has a pretty fierce wobble. Kinda like a bent wheel or something.. I checked the trueness of both wheels up front and they are straight. Now, when I had the wheels off, I checked the tightness of all possible bolts, nuts, etc. But, what I found was when I checked the ball ...

Well, I do not have a regular dash like many on this forum. My dash is digital, so, I cannot tell temps like 210 etc. And, I do not have the touch screen.

Anyway, my question is this...

In the winter my car will not warm up like it does in the sprintime. In the winter, on the gauge, it runs at 2 bars above cold. Therefore, the heater does not get warm. During the summer, it reads one or two bars above the center line (normal) with the A/C off. Does this mean either my thermostat is missing ...

So, My SES is on, and has been on for a while.

It's the Camshaft Position Sensor.

1. I replaced the sensor.

2. Replaced the Water pump, because it was growling A LOT.

3. SES still on, I checked the wiring to the ECM and back, it was okay.

4. my mechanic checked it over and said that it was missing the magnet on the cam gear. He said he turned the car 360* and felt all over the gear where the sensor and magnet are supposed to contact.

WTF? He said it would be no big deal ...

With warm weather here i would like to get it to work. the compressor does not engage only engages with a paper clip in the relay box from 30 to 87 ... my question could it be the low cut off switch or a leak in the system cause i did have it filled awhile ago but the compressor wouldn't engauge.. And were abouts is this cut off switch located ?

after changing out my power steering pump, i began to think, why does the 95 rivs power steering reservoir snake all the way over the engine? to make its way onto the throttle body cable bracket on the other side? does anybody think it might be a better idea to relocate to the right side of the engine? there is space enough next to the washer motor i think. it would free up a good amount of work space .what do you guys think?

I have a 1990 Riviera and I have a very frustrating problem. Similar to another qustion here car won't start. Everything turns on, lights, radio, etc., I can hear the fuel pump going even, but when I turn the key, the click from the relay is all that happens. The frustrating part is this only happens when it's gets wet, after snow melts or after driving in the rain. Gotta new starter, new fuel pump, still when whatever it is that gets wet does so... NOTHING. I can't find a relay for the starter ...

But recently in out Nebraska heat, approaching 90-95 degrees, my temp gauge has been reading high. It usually sits at about 1/2 but it starts approaching 3/4 to the hot. I MUST MENTION THAT IT HAS NEVER OVERHEATED AND HAS NEVER WENT OVER 3/4.
