Help!!! Vacuum line ?'s

Hey gang, I have a new problem.

Pulled a P01020 code (MAF sensor) so I bought some throttle body cleaner and sprayed the MAF. However I noticed I had old cracked fittings on the vacuum lines

The vacuum line rubber fittings are so old they're cracked. So I bought some tubing and connectors and "modded" a new system.

Now however the SES light and Traction OFF light are coming on, it idles too high (then settles down) and I hear a hissing type sound from around tranny. ...

Premium only!

One of the first things you can do to make more power is to use the right gas. The L67 engine was designed to run on premium fuel only. This means 91 or better octane. If you can find 94, go for it.

Higher octane fuels help prohibit engine knock, which is caused by excess heat inside the engine, a lean air/fuel mixture, and/or using a fuel that is too easily combusted. A higher octane fuel helps to resist cylinder combustion until it is ignited by the spark, so the burn ...

The type of plug you use will depend on your level of modification. A good upgrade for a stock engine is to replace the OEM plugs with a type known as "cooler" than stock. A good copper spark plug is the Autolite 605 or 104. Autolites are very reasonable at about $10 for a set of 6, and can be found at most auto parts counters.

The idea behind cooler plugs is that they will dissipate heat away from the electrodes more quickly than standard plugs. Since excess heat in the combustion chamber ...

Im going to document my 4t80e transmission swap/install. I will post some pics up. Im doing this because the only other install like this has instructions that aren't very specific, or at least not documented as much.

So far, the 4t60 is out, so most pics will be from here on out. Pulling the trans is fairly straight forward. We had to drop the subframe completely though. Surprisingly, the 4t60 looks great, as do the axles.

Our first problem we ran into was that the stock flywheel ...

I have a 99 silver arrow with the SC 3.8. Ive owned it for about a month now. Three times since I've owned it the car has randomly stalled out. Twice I was driving at 55mph and the engine shut down. I was able to restart the engine no problem. Once the engine stalled just after I was at WOT. About 5 seconds after I slowed back down the engine stalled. All 3 times have been easy restarts. Anyone know if this is a common problem? I will tell you that I know the car needs an alternator.
Just had a new waterpump put on, while they had it apart they put on a new harmonic balancer.

I've noticed since that the engine sounds different from in the cabin. It drives fine, no problems, but I hear a gurgling sorta sound, very faint, in the background noise, that I don't remember... It sort of sounds like the exhuast on a Grand Am with the V6...you know that common sound to all GM V6's...?

Would a new balancer make a "new" noise? Is it possible to put it on wrong, ...

While moving the wire harness around to remove the rear valve cover something must have been moved too far because when i cranked the car it stumbled and died. I spent the rest of the night diagnosing the situation and i found my +5v signal wire for the MAF has broken somewhere in the wire harness. therefor I have no MAF right now. Replacing Belts and Tensioner Pulleys on the 95-99 Buick Riviera Supercharged

The moral of this repair is "be prepared." With these instructions, and the needed tools and parts at hand, replacing the belts and tensioner pulleys will only take a few hours and be minimally frustrating.

Replacing the belts and tensioner pulleys on the supercharged Riviera is considerably more involved than the same job on normally aspirated cars. ...

I've been getting P0741 codes like crazy over the past few days. It means the TCC is sticking and will not engage. Sometimes it works, today it wouldn't engage at all. Transmission works fine otherwise, but fuel economy won't be as good. Long trips will be limited, as trans temps are now higher than normal during cruise(but thank goodness for winter!). I used the PowrTuner to program the SES to stay off for this code, so I can drive with the light off. This way I'll know if the light comes on ...

I am going for all out. I plan to have every surface on the inside of the blower smooth as glass (which is a little more work than the vendors normally do to my knowledge. Here's a few pics of the finished product-

So how much would you pay to know how to build such an intake? $100? $20? Nothing? Correct! Just for being a member of this board , you will have access to all this knowledge for free! ( other fees and charges may apply)

According to the thread they are made in China and are made of 321 stainless steel ( better material then what the SLP headers are made of) Also looks like it has a 3 inch downpipe, AT $299.99 plus shipping this beats the pacesetter headers in price.

Smaller SC pulleys make more boost, and boost allows the engine to make more power. Be careful, though. If you go too small right away, the engine will knock, which will take away power and can even be harmful to your pistons.

The diameter of the OEM SC pulley is 3.8". Decreasing the diameter causes the blower to spin faster, creating higher than normal boost levels. It only takes a small change in pulley size to make a noticeable difference. Just a .1" diameter decrease will yield ...

CAI: Cold Air Intake

FWI: Fender Well Intake

One of the great things about our engines using forced induction (supercharging) is that they really benefit from breathing cool air. You will notice as air temperatures drop, your Riviera will seem a little faster. You aren't imagining this; colder air is denser than warmer, so with more air molecules entering the intake, more fuel can be added by the PCM. The result is more power. It can be estimated that for every 10ºF drop in ambient ...

Am trying to install a GTP trans in the Riviera. I picked up for a good deal a 'built' low milage tranny from a '97 GTP. It was a good enough deal that I can resell it if it won't fit.

Axle outlets the same splines, etc?

It has 3.29 gears, lots of other stuff (LSD, 3000 stall converter, etc). I've decided the 3.29s will be more appropriate for my mostly city driving anyway

hey im having some problems with my s/c. I am hearing some noise in the s/c and just changed the oil in the nose. the noise is still there so i think the gears were starting to strip b/f i changed the oil. is there anything i can do to make it last longer?it still has the 3.8 pully on it.
does replacing the fuel pump require actually dropping the tank on these cars?
I did a search and couldnt find an answer here. I thought we had a write up on it. I just figured it would be the hard way on our cars, like everything else (belts,etc.).

Hey i was just wondering if the snout can be taken off and serviced without removing the entire supercharger. My car is kinda making a screeching noise and im pretty sure the supercharger could use a new coupler and bearings. Let me know if you have any info, thanks.

injector pulsing problem, was ign. switch. how to replace?

Does anyone know what causes the injectors to "pulse"? Looking on the PCM schematics, I doesnt appear that the PCM controls this feature on a 96 riviera.

My injectors are not pulsing...got spark, fuel at the rail, power everywhere else. Who knows what else Im missing that causes the injectors to pulse.

The injectors got power, but no pulsing. A node light will light up when testing, but wont pulse. It stays lit. Car wont start.
