This is how much i could asamble it atm..
need to get new resistors or how ever they are called for the handels lights. the last owner buted led lights in the exterjor door handels.

but one on the drivers door was broken.
so i have now new led lights but need the resistors to make the 12V into 3V. so thats why i cant but them back.

also need to wait for the ratainers and other parts what are on way from usa(will take 1-3weeks)
and need someone who could get the new taillight and some other interjor parts from my home in estonia.

oh well here are some pictures..

Looks real nice. I like the color.
Can't wait to see it in the sunshine.
BTW, ordered the remaining clips you need.
Now it's a waiting game.

So that's what they looked like in showrooms...

If you could keep it with a satin finish, like this:

Even though that's just the paint without any protective clear coat, it would look amazing.

whitout the protective closs coat it wont last long. also it would get dirty easely cos the paint survice under microscope would look like a sand paper. whti the closs it fills the holes and makes it smooth.(the dust and dirt do not stick on it.. but yes it looks nice whit just the paint and matt survice.

and Thanks Rick..cant wait to get the riv done and drive it again.

Are you reusing the original rubber seals or replacing them?

How about the seam on each side of the roof that has that rubber seal down inside of it, did you just paint the rubber? I have always wondered how to go about repainting one of these vehicles...
Thanks

Oh and your car looks Marvelous! clap

Bert

He hasn't ask me to order any rubber seals....yet.
I've ordered or bought all the components/parts he's asked for and am shipping a boatload of stuff.
Maybe he was able to get the rubber parts locally. I don't know for sure.

I know Randall has obviously done a lot with prepping these properly for re-paint and has posted some good info.
But I agree with you, I've looked at the car closely and see rubber sandwiched everywhere. Between the rear quarter panels and the roof, The rain gutter in the roof, all the window seals and external reveals, etc.
There are rubber pieces everywhere that would make a perfect restoration very difficult.
And if you are planning on keeping the car for another decade before restoring you have to start buying all that rubber and all the misc. clips and fasteners now before they are all obsolete.
It's happening fast.

The car looks like it was in very nice shape before you painted it, but now it look as good as new. Nice detail work on all the lights. I am also curious about what you did with the rubber on each side of the roof. Can you take some pics of that area? Great job Timo.

for avoiding future water leaks i left them in.
the seals on roof and the seals on the back what go from trunk to the rear side windows.
i do not see a point of taking them off. and the last owner had anyways painted the car before whitout removing them (only the part where the side sleas connect front of the trunk i did not paint), now they have a paint what connects everything. (i had some water in trunk so i was thinking that the seals on the sides may have leaked .. but the actual leaks where behind the rear light on sides.

It has already happened! headshot
The pieces between the sail panel and the rear quarter and the trim around the rear window were not available last year when eWolfe painted his. I had purchased a couple of spares in '07 so I was able to help him out.

PostSubject: Re: Snowdog's Riv   Sat Oct 24, 2009 4:12 am

some update...the parts will arrive in about 2 weeks.
then i will have again lots to do.

atm done so much as there was possible.
cos im driving in a zone where the temperature goes from max 30C on summer and on winter max -30C then i had to spray the bottom and wheel spaces of the car whit some thick soft stone absurber spray...(or how ever it could be called)
should protect it for rust for long long time. also it will block some exterjor sounds on comming through the body into car.

then made new door handle lightning.
the last owner had allready made ones in the handles whit green led lights, but only the passenger side one worked.
i wanted to but new green lights but did not found any.
so i buyed one cheep led flachlight and took 2 leds of it...buted some resistors and wires on them and connected whit the interjor lightnign circle.

works very nicely...but still shame i did not found any green ones..
oh well here some pictures...

also waiting for the sport mufflers to arrive so i can start to build a 2 1/2 inch exhaust from headers till end.

guess i will atm use the stock cat till i can find somewhere a 2 1/2 highflow cat...

been thinking of deleiting the resonator...has anyone ever deleted it??? was the sound toooo loud after that? any videos?

I have removed the resonator and other than very minor highway drone, I don't feel like it changes it too much on the tail end. You can find a video of my exhaust while the car is on the dyno on my showcase. I would like a deeper tone and will probably go with either the 40 series muffler or something else comparible.
