Can the buttons for temp, fan and air flow be popped to replace the lights?

The buttons can not be popped off.

However, if you remove the dash fascia panel you can then remove the HVAC control. The control disassembles, and then you can replace the lights and LEDs.

There is a write up I did some time ago that tells how to replace the lights, including the part number for the paint marker you need in order to get the replacement lights to be the right color "eye-ease green." Someone else commented on replacing the LEDs (they are yellow) with different colors like red for the "OFF" LED.

I found the writeups for dash removal and radio replacement. The side panel removal seem key to the dash removal. Replacing the lights will be like repairing the Guitar Hero drum kit. I'll start at Radio Shack for the bulbs but may have a couple options for some more OEM. Seems a best bet to replace all bulbs.

A typical failure is the ballast resistors in the control overheat and burn out. There is another writeup on replacing them, I think it is in the same thread. A search on this site for hvac. Display or some such should turn it up.
