Daryl, the best way to do it is set up a free Photobucket account, upload your pictures there, and copy/paste the [IMG] tags in a post!

LOL I bet you'd be surprised to know those 3rd gen Chargers were pretty successful race cars in their day. If you compare the third gen car to the 2nd gen car everyone loves, you might wonder what the hell happened. Aerodynamics happened. The 3rd gen car was very much designed to win at NASCAR. The drag-inducing tunnel back rear window is gone, the rear deck is designed to generate downforce. The track is wider. Richard Petty raced a 3rd gen Charger. Unfortunately the insurance industry and the Arab oil crisis killed the muscle car era about the time the 3rd gen came along, and it didn't develop the reputation of the earlier model. After 72 they got turned into quasi-luxury barges, but the first two years have tons of performance potential. The new hemi goes right in. There's an engine computer kit to make it easy. You an get big brake kits, suspension upgrades. They make fuckin' awesome cars -
I love my Riv, but realistically, the electronics are going to go bad and cost too much to replace. I'm not sure the Riv is ever going to appreciate. The Charger, although it was built forty years ago, ultimately will have better longevity. It's not packing anything in the way of electronics, and the aftermarket support is already pretty good. It's still worth what I paid for it, although it no longer runs and I've pulled the interior. People still offer to buy it, in the condition its in. I'm so looking forward to getting back on it.

thats only half hahah, yeah i couldnt really decide what a wanted. the camaro was my favorite and the most impractical... hmm big block chevy, the most fun to drive was the black MR2 spyder because it almost weighed nothing.. the mustang was a POS, the 240sx had the nicest paint job ever. the red civic ran 11.23. the thunderbird turbo coupe was unique but kept falling apart... the integra...aahh the integras engine had about 220 hp and red line at 10k lol was fun as well, the camaro was a torque monster

Awesome lineup! That silver toyota is really clean, and that's my favorite style of the 2nd generation Camaro, without any bars or bumpers over the grille!

It's all relative. I'm sure you can build a 1-3rd generation Charger in the mid-4000s, but what modern full size car would you compare it too that isn't also a porker? You could also find a shell and build it "light" if you wanted. It would be neat to see one with fiberglass or carbon fiber hood and fenders, and a modern TT six under the hood.
highwaywarrior - Dang, do you swap cars every month? You must have a ragin' hard on for paperwork.

I'm more interested in your tow rig? Dual rear axles what? Some kind of ex military vehicle I assume?
There are a few differences between the GTP and Riv engine, all in the accessories. The engine internals and block are the same.
Make sure your "blown engine" doesn't simply require intake manifold gaskets. It's a very very common mistake. Either of the engines you listed are likely to be in similar condition. These things have been known to run to 250K and beyond without a problem if they are properly maintained.
Hello, The engine had a bad rod knock, which had scored the crank journal. No cheap repair.
The truck is a 1969 Jeep M715 that I modified into a 6x6, along with a Cummins 6BT diesel engine. Towing the Riv, it gets the same gas mileage as my '66 Toronado gets driving itself

It was a rebuild with 20K miles. Something obviously went wrong...
I already got the 125K engine. I called the other junkyard again and they didn't know how many miles the 83K one had....
Swapping engines this weekend.

Yeah, as a DIY guy, you know there's always the X-factor: the unknown quality of some mech work. That's a large reason why sites like Riv Performance exist, I'd venture. Shame the rebuilt went down, but then it seems you'd likely not have that Riv if it didn't fail. I've been looking for the right deal on a Series II engine myself. I think you snagged one of my options However, I came across a gent with a '96 that he bought to replace a shot '95. I have the engine he needs, he has what I need, both with similar mileage. We're about to swap. A no-cash deal! Good luck with your new ride.
