Looking to put a K&N filter on the end of the stock pipe, what is the inner diameter of the factory pipe? I will just use a small piece of pvc of the same diameter for a coupler. Also, how does the factory tube come off the intake? Otherwise I will just angle the tube down and drill the hole for the temp sender so the rubber shards fall out right away. Or would it work better to get a little bit longer piece of pvc and install the sensor in the side of that? Then I can switch back to the factory box without having to plug a hole in the side of the pipe.

Yo! Have you tried searching the forum? I am pretty sure this info exists and there might be a thread dedicated to this kind of stuff.

Good luck!

I've looked but all I have been able to find is a fwi, but for right now I'd like to just do a filter on the stock pipe. I have also looked for the stock pipe diameter but have been unsuccessful. Also, it seems like the temperature sensor is for a flat surface, and it won't seal on a round pipe. Is it possible for that little chamber on the bottom of the pipe to come off? That is flat so putting it on the side of it would probably work.

I searched and someone said they did just what I want to do and kept the same temps close to stock, which is also what I want. I didn't want them to go way up. Is it possible for that little chamber on the bottom of the pipe to come off? That is flat so putting it on the side of it would probably work, I just don't want to drill into it and have all the shaving go in the engine.

FWIW, a Maxwell House coffee can will for perfectly inside of the stock intake pipe, and a cone filter will fit perfectly over that haha.

autozone sells dis http://www.autozone.com/filters-and-pcv/air-filter-performance/spectre-performance-air-filter-performance/buick/riviera/1995/6-cylinders-1-3-8l-fi-sc-ohv/178569_378169_0/ pretty cheap uses the same crap thats in the k&n u wont haft to change any thing its just a drop in replacement and works well. I clean mine with simple green every couple months and charge it with spectre oil its also acouple dollars cheaper than k&n oil. I never wanted to hack on my car just wanted to keep it stock with better parts and this has been a good deal so far no problems with it. Just my 2 cents happy
