Bose Amp and Subwoofer Empty
PostSubject: Bose Amp and Subwoofer   Bose Amp and Subwoofer EmptyWed Aug 17, 2016 1:34 pm

I was flipping through the (97) factory service manual and found an illustration showing a Bose amp and subwoofer under the rear package shelf. I've been on this forum for years and not heard of that. Was it an option or do all Rivs have (partial) Bose audio? Is this good stuff?

Could be, but why wouldn't it be used in the Riviera too?

You'd have to use the Bose head and wiring same as in the Aurora. Interesting problem -- there may not be any difference actually. No idea. And there's not much reason those items would not fit under the package shelf. HOWEVER if I remember my Riv history there was an idea for factory convertibles for the Riv. Someone on the design team (Bill) would have to address that, and I don't know/have not met him or any of the others.

By the way, the 98 manual shows those items also.

I am not aware that any Rivs were delivered with the Bose audio and subwoofer.

By the way -- if you can get the schematics (at least the pinout for the connectors) you should be able to install the head, wiring and amp/subwoofer yourself if you wanted to.

What I would do: Get the Clarion amp/subwoofer unit from a Subaru (it fits under the passenger seat, it's like 8" x 10" x 2.5" deep) and install THAT under the back seat or under the console (not sure where it will fit) using mild steel strapping and some nuts/bolts. It's not an earthquake-making unit but it would add pleasant bottom end. A relatively easy web search would get you the wiring information that you'd need -- just be sure to get the wiring harness for the sub, as well as the sub, from the junkyard you go to.
