PostSubject: Rough start then runs fine   Rough start then runs fine EmptyWed Jul 29, 2015 3:44 pm

So i went outside about a week ago and when i first turned my car over it would not start. It was really trying to start but just wouldnt, so i stopped and tried again gave it just a bit of gas, then fired right up. Did smell a small amout of gas though after it started. After that i drove to work like any other day with the car running great no issues. So this kept on happening now for the past week after the car sits for longer then an hour or so, if i turn it off and come back to it about a half hour later it starts up great. I am not sure what the issue could be the starter is about a year old, and help would be much appreciated. Oh and my car is a 1998 Riviera with 3800 super harched, and had 277,000 miles on it.

Fuel pressure, or temp sending unit?

You need to check fuel pressure with a gauge attached to the fuel rail (cheap or available for rent from many auto parts stores)

Is your temp gauge working properly?
