You need a Torx socket I think it's a 45 or 50 size. just remove the bolts and remove seat. But I think the switch is behind the small side panel along the drivers side.

I know how to unbolt the seat, the problem will be getting the seat to go
backward, it only goes forward !
Can it be hot wired ( jumped ) so it can be powered to go back ?
Hoping someone out there can help.
Thanks

Hey RivGuy...A year or so ago I swapped-out all my seats. In the process, I had to disassemble the driver's seat switch and "manually" move the seat using a separate 12V Power Supply unit.

You may want to take a look at my write-up (page 3 of https://rivperformance.editboard.com/t3059p50-write-up-front-rear-seat-removal) as I explained how to move the seat manually as well as swap-out the seat switch. Let me know if you have specific questions and perhaps I can help.

Craig, I have reviewed your post, I have the car battery power ,OK, but my problem is I have a used switch (seller said good ) from a 95 not sure of condition or, if a 95 vs a 96 ( my car is a 96 ) is adaptable. So if I run seat full forward and new switch does not work, how do I get seat back so car is drivable again ? So my real question is very basic terms how can I hot wire, jump, to manually move seat forward and backward ? Car is OK to drive now just a bit tight.

Driver Seat Removal Empty

Bob,
I do not have the schematics for a '96. However, I can tell you that when I purchased the '95 seats for my '97, the seat adjuster switch and wiring harness were different so I am thinking you may not be able to use the '95 switch you bought without doing some difficult re-wiring. (I am not sure on this since I don't have the '96 Service information.)

Regardless, I would definitely not recommend trying to hot-wire/jumper anything within the switch. The simple reason is your switch connects to a multi-wire connector and a MEMORY SEAT/MIRROR CONTROL MODULE--not simple connections to get the 12V to where it needs to go. You could easily damage the Module and other circuit devices.

Lastly, my only suggestion, is that if you are familiar with electrical circuit troubleshooting, there are extensive troubleshooting steps in the Riviera Service Manual for diagnosing a seat that only moves one direction. Again, I only have the '97 Service Manual; but even with my electronics background, these procedures looked a bit daunting!

Also, take a look under the seat to see if there are any obvious problems (e.g., connectors not tight, broken or chafed wires, something stored beneath the seat obstructing movement or pinching wires).

Sorry I don't have better news. Maybe a '96 owner out there can be of some help.
