That is called a ready strut. All new coil spring, mounts and strut, all assembled. That way, you don't need a spring compressor to disassemble everything to reuse your coil springs when changing struts. I didn't think they were available for the 95-96. I know I used them on my 98. Got them from rockauto. They were Gabriels.

Probably because they were to replace the active suspension on the Riv's twin, the Aurora.

When I bought my Riv one of the mechanics told me about that--I had no idea what he was talking about and have never seen one (junkyard, dealer lift, owner) on either Riv or Aurora. Might have gone bye-bye like the factory Riv struts, which due to trick valving stiffen up in turns. That fad didn't last.
