Gauge Placement Idea and Opinions

Hey guys,

I am going to start with getting the interior of the Riv done first and I wanted some opinions on the gauge placement idea I have. Here is a pic to give you an idea:



...The three rings are Autometer black angled rings so I can see the gauges without having to stretch over the dash. If you look at this pic of te interior right now, you can see where they will sit (right where the turbo logo sits).



What do you guys think?
For gauges, I will be running the following:

I dunno dude...looks like a really tight fit. How about pillar gauges instead?

i really hate pillar gauges, and its actually a straight up cubby right behind that section of wood grain, so it would fit REALLY nice as far as depth.

I understand. It just didn't look like a lot of clearance at the top and bottom of the rings. It may just be the angle of the pic though. Also, I hate to see you cut up the dash. That car looks really clean and they are getting hard to find. BUT, I understand the need to make it your own.

I should have been a little more clear when i stated "resto project"...
by resto project, i really meant, the sickest high 10 low 11 second riv ever lol.

also, the dash piece in the pic is a spare. I am going to try and keep as many doubles of stock parts if i ever want to really restore the car.

You are right thouh, it is VERY tight on the rings top and bottom. It JUST fits.

I'm with him on this one. It looks like it might not look right with not having much room on the top and bottom.

But there always has to be someone to try something and change everyone's mind.

i am wondering how it would look if i didnt use the rings and just straight up flushed the gauges into the trim piece to get rid of some of the thickness?

cake walk motor wise on these cars.

....weak link is the trans. 200 is garbage. I have to find a way to use the th350 housing and gears with a stiffer front dif setup.

Entire top end of the motor is being swapped to 86-87 intercooled on the 85 hot air block.

BillBoost can chime in and give some more insight on the GN stuff
He has seen where I chill and play.

Not sure if they make them, but square gauges would look way cooler than round ones, imo.
