| Window tint is VERY hard to do yourself and have it look right. I'd wait and save your money till you can pay someone. |

Don't waste the money and time trying to do it yourself unless you really know how. |

| Id wait to have it done professionaly and 179 is cheap the place i take my cars too over here was 300 but they do a top notch job. The reason i say dont do it yourself is if you dont do the back window the way you want it your stuck with it cause if you pull the tint off you are pretty much guarenteed to damge th defrost decals and then your stuck buyting a new rear windshield. |

| The main prob' , would be thickness of tint. If it is thick u have to heat shrink both doors, always have to shrink back glass,so much curve to it. (better have a heatgun!!!!!!!!!!! |

 | Subject: Window Tint, Rocker Panels etc. Sun Feb 10, 2008 8:05 pm | |
| Hey everyone, I've been making a bunch of appearance mods recently, which I'll take pics of as soon as I can, but I'm looking to move on to tinting the windows. Coming out of work the other day, I couldn't help but notice that the totally see-through glass in the rear window isn't that attractive.
Thus, I've decided to try tinting them and see how that works out. I've heard that the tint on the door windows can sometimes have problems with it. Has anyone had any trouble with theirs? Any noticeable tears or anything?
I'm trying to get an idea of what kinds of percentages to get where. In Delaware, we can't have less than 70% on the front 2 windows, which pisses me off, but whatever. If you've got some examples I could compare and look at some options, I'd appreciate it.
Also thinking about getting some chrome rocker panels for the sides. Would come up about 4 inches from the plastic crap on the bottom up the doors. I'm going for an overall luxury look, and I'm wondering if this would or would not deter from the look of it. Any opinions?
Ooh, and before I forget, I'm thinking of chroming the door handles, and removing the "Riviera" lettering from the sides and replacing the lettering with some classic "R" emblems. Just looking for some opinions on how people think those concepts may look. Thanks for the help!

| On the tint, I have heard that the front window the rails in the door could damage the tint. If your going to tint my suggestion is to keep it even ont he front and rear windows. And for removing the riviera eblem I would leave it with nothing Shaved look ftw. Please post up pics of your new additions I would like to see them |

| Are you talking about the little window behind the door? I had my Rivie tinted several years ago and it's all tinted quite well, however I did take it somewhere to have it professionally done. I'd never thought of doing anything like chrome handles - how would one do such a thing? |

| I've heard there's problems with the actual door window, not the quarter-window. I'll get it tinted pro if I feel like actually getting it tinted, but I've just heard our doors mess the tint up when the windows are rolled down.
And you can get someone to chrome dip the handles. I need to shop around for someone to do that, though. There's not much of a market where I live. |
