Spongy breaks Empty
PostSubject: Spongy breaks   Spongy breaks EmptyFri Sep 14, 2007 1:20 am

My mom's 2004 Jeep Liberty's (3.7L) breaks are super touchy. Just breathing on them is enough to send you through the windshield.

I want my breaks to be like that.

Could I adjust my break pedal freeplay to "preload it", if so how do I do that?

I've resurfaced my rotors, got new pads, bled my breaks with synthetic fluid (all new fluid now).

But my breaks are still pretty mushy. My break light isn't on either...

I have a 1991 Buick Riviera it appears that I have the BOSCH ABS system as there is a computer on the driver's side labled "BOSCH".[/b]

You did not say if you ever replaced or overhauled your master cylinder or the calipers. You did not say if you inspected the soft lines for sponginess. You did not say if the car stops quickly enough.

all valid points, but he could replace everything in the car and it will still stop like a buick. "smooth" is what it is designed to do, mine feels too mushy compare to some cars, but it will still stop in a hurry if i stand on it.
also what kind of pads did you get? some pads have more inital bit than others and will feel better. they will usually dust more and not last as long either btw.

note he has a 91 riviera. If it has the german "Teves 2" antilock brake system like the Reatta of the day (its e-body parner), have fun trying to fix it. I suggest going to www.reatta.net and www.reatta.org
