I'm trying to figure out what is causing this. I don't think it's the rack. If I'm turning right at about 15-20mph I'll hear a growl or grumble from the left side of the car. It's not a hum or whir that you'd associate with a bad wheel bearing but I haven't ruled that out. I've put new tires on and the sound remains. It also doesn't seem to grumble as much when the tires have higher air pressure in them.

So my two thoughts are:

-wheel bearing
-strut mount

Just curious what everyone else thinks.

CV joint - see if it changes if turning under forward load vs turning under no load vs turning under decel load...

I don't mean to hijack your thread Rick, but I just noticed something similar on my car a few weeks ago and was also wondering what it could be. On mine, it seems to make a louder noise when you are accelerating through the corner. Also the tighter the corner, the louder the noise.

I would heed Dereks advice, he seems to be quite knowledgeable. But if it's not the CV joint. I would look at the struts and or mounts next. Mine didn't have a growl or grumble but more like a door creak when I turned. It stopped when I changed the mount and struts.

I checked it today and it seems to only do it when I make tight right hand turns while accelerating. Would that be a cv joint or something else?

Solution:
Only make left hand turns........J/K,

You could have a front end shop diagnose it for free if they think they will get the job.
Hard to impossible to diag. noises on the internet.

Either CV joint or wheel bearing. Hard to tell without hearing it firsthand.

You should check the wheel bearing for play - jack the car so the wheel is off the ground, then grab the top and bottom of the tire and pull in/out back and forth and you'll notice if the end play is very bad. With a new wheel bearing, I can get the wheel to move in and out a tiny amount, but with a bad wheel bearing, you would get a hefty movement and maybe even a clunk when you do it.

Any chance you can make a video of it? Have somebody outside the car and do it next to them in a parking lot?

I might try and get a vid of mine. It seems to do it regardless of decel, accel or anything. Only when making a turn past the halfway point (i guess you would classify it as a tight turn) at around 15 mph.

Rick, I'm thinking bearing for you. Is your trac/ABS light on?

It is. I got a used one from Ed and plugged that one into both hubs up front but the light stayed on which made me think there is an issue with both hubs or something with the traction system itself. I just pulled the bulb from the dash because it's useless, IMO. lol I'm going to put the used hub on that side and see if it helps.
