PostSubject: 97 Riviera codes   97 Riviera codes EmptyFri Jan 04, 2008 4:51 pm

Hi!

There is two error codes that i dont know how to fix them:

P0102: MAF or VAF a ckt. Low Input - For this one, i chaged the MAF sensor twice, but there is still the same problem (on "D", the RPM goes down, not too much but you can feel it). I dont know why puzzled

P0420: Catalyst efficiency. I dont have catalyst converter anymore, when i bought the car, i had problems with it and i had to remove it.

If somebody knows how to fix them please let me know!!!!!!!

Thanks!!!!

when was the last time you changed air filter, or did a tune-up? MAF is downstream of the air filter.

you say RPMs go down. I assume this is while cruising at steady speed. This is *normal* it is the transmission going into 'lockup' mode. Saves you gas.

To be street-legal you need a cat. The computer thinks you still have one and will 'yell' at you until you restore things to factory specs.

happy new year

To fix the P0420, you can install an O2 emulator in place of the #2 (rear) O2 sensor. It costs $39.99:

That is the code I get when my MAF is unplugged. You'd have to connect a scanner to see what the MAF is reading as to why you are getting that code.

agree take a look at what the MAF values are.
did you clear the code after the new maf was installed?
the cat code can be "fixed" one of 3 ways.
1. put the cat back on
2. get a 02 sim (like Aaron said)
3. buy a PT and remove the code from the pcm
