DHP PowrTuner... Oops! Empty
PostSubject: DHP PowrTuner... Oops!   DHP PowrTuner... Oops! EmptyMon Mar 03, 2008 10:25 pm

Tonight after work I decided to do a partial re-write to the PCM, restoring the old transmission settings. I was in a hurry, and my laptop battery was on its last leg. I had enough juice for just one write.

So I get it all ready, click 'ok' to write, and notice I didn't have the key turned on! But the computer is doing its thing anyway, writing away... so I let it finish. It says "Programming Error - Do not turn off power to car." Lol, my power was already off, so decided to try starting her up.

Stumbled for a second, but she started right up! Crazy part is, the PCM code actually wrote the new code, as the transmission settings are obviously different now. So for what it's worth, should you ever find yourself in the same situation, don't panic. Let the computer finish its job, then just start the car. Or you could probably do another re-write with car on, just to be sure.

I'm going to do another re-write just in case, but the car is running fine, so I think it's okay the way it is.

The thought has crossed my mind. I would, but I'm okay with DHP now. If I had it to do all over again, I'd get HP Tuners. Back when I got mine, DHP was the only option, and at one point we had NO WAY at all to tune the car. I'm just glad to have something that works!

Ah... didn't mean it that way! Forgot about you '96ers. If I decide to sell, you're first on the list.
