| Ive heard that a 160 stat may cause your engine to run too cool. i think it is best for race applications only. | |

| The lowest you would want to go is 180* and that's only if your PCM has been reprogrammed for that temp. | |

| A 180 is just fine up here in winter, I'm in ND. Had no heating issues last winter with a 180. DO NOT run a 160 in a daily driver. | |

| Marc, do you have your fan turn-on settings modified, with that "programmed ecm" in your sig? | |

You do not need to reprogram your PCM to run a 180º T-stat. It's recommended for a stock car if you're planning on spirited driving, or doing repeated WOT runs. A 180º unit is fine for winter. It does not delay heating of the car on start-up, and should not cause less heat once warmed up, even when very cold. Maybe during extreme sub zero conditions you would notice it, but I haven't had any problem down to -5ºF. As suggested, do not use a 160º unit. Good luck. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| Correct, no programming is needed. However, to take full advantage of the 180 t-stat, you would want your fans to turn on at a lower than stock temp setting. | |

| I just got my 180 hi-flow thermostat from ZZP and put it in. I took the car out and noticed a nice difference in temp over the stock stat. It was very easy to do and took only 5 minutes. I want to know what to do next, any ideas? | |

| X3 on cooler plugs, AL104's are a good choice.
I'd also look into a 3" downpipe, Hogan Performance makes a good one, either by itself, or with their hi-flow Magnaflow cat.

| Thanks for the advice, 104's it is for the next move followed by ported exaust manifolds and that Hogan 3" downpipe.
These are just to prep the car for a ported blower with a 3.4 pully, ported lower manifold, PCM reflash to get rid of that pesky 110mph speed limit and Stage 3 heads.
I so love my Riviera!!!!!!!

| May as well skip the ported manifolds and buy headers instead. | |

| Might want to look into an HP Tuners, considering the degree of modding you seem to be planning. At a minimum get a scan tool to monitor KR, before getting too far into making changes. | |
