Seat swaps - bracket compatability

Hey folks, this message goes out to the anyone who knows if any other (preferably non-power) seat out of another GM car has the same style seat brackets as the Riv? as anyone who has taken the seats out will tell you,the front of the brackets fit into slots ,and the back of the brackets are held in place by bolts. My seats are slowly taking a big s..t all over me,failed passenger recline ETC ..ETC..., and i want to replace them with manual adjust seats. Of course i will have to have them upholstered. And the seats weigh ,together, 110 lbs! that's a lot. Normal for power,but a lot. All input much appreciated...

Where did you find out that the seats weigh 110 pounds? hmm i wonder lol jk.

The aurora seat may work just need to take a look a little more. When i look at the back seats I will lokk at the front seats for ya too. But then again i believe the auroras had power seats.

For some reason i remeber the 2000 and + monte carlos having similar seat brackets but don't quote me on that but them seats are comfortable I could drive for hours in those and not even notice.

Ha Ha..yeah..i lost my passenger recline ,and had to remove the seat for its check up,and man! was I surprised at the weight! yur right 50lbs +!. my passenger seat came in at 55lbs. the driver come to think of it must weigh at least 60lbs...

Yup i figured the driver's seat weighed more

I found two nearly perfect seats from a 96 with no rigging on the bottom. I have a 98. Will I be able to remove my seats, take the tracks off and bolt these to mine? javascript:emoticonp('')

When I pulled the seats out of my '97 to do the interior I compared them against my old '95's seats and they looks pretty much the same. I would assume they would swap, except for that one module underneath. Don't know much about that in particular, but the seats themselves should swap rigging no problem.

I love the seats in my Riviera but I am crazy about swapping them out with something else. Right now I am stuck on early 90's Corvette seats. I want to take out the power controls too and make it manually adjustable. I have thought about rigging the seat warmers because we all know how awesome those are, but I can do without the power seat adjust. My motor is painfully slow for my ADD so a manual adjust would be a million times faster. (and lighter )

Have any of you swapped your seats? If you could or would, any ideas on what you'd like?

You might want to measure whether the seats can be bolted onto the Riv's seat tracks. That is, the part that bolts to the floor of the car stays (the seat frames) but the part that the seat bottom screws onto is where you detach the old seats and install the new.

I think it is not at all likely you will be able to convert the Corvette seats from electric to manual. You can find a manual seat frame without much problem, I think Summit or JEGS have them for sale. Making the seats recline manually, making the seat bottom rake adjustment manual, making the lumbar supports manual is probably not sensible.

you might want to look at horseheadspickapart.com, I think they had like a '94 vette in the yard, look on the web site and phone them to verify. Start there.

Actually, those seats look pretty sweet. I've always thought the riv needed a seat that hugs you more so you don't go sliding in the corners. Those actually still match the luxury of the riv while accomplishing it.

Anyone have a weight on the OEM lazy boys in our Rivs? everything, motor, gearbox, heater, mounts..

I like the 04-06 Pontiac GTO seats. It would need re-upholstered to match, but they are super comfortable and keep you from sliding around.

I'm mainly looking for a tighter seat and to drop ~100lbs.

Another option: 90-95 Ford Thunderbird SC seats. I have a 91 SC, and I love the power side bolsters designed to hug you during cornering. Both my Riv and SC have maroon interior, so I could probably do the swap if I really wanted to.

i like the factory seats the wat they are....i find'em comfortable....haha...

def def definitely digging those 90-95 Ford Thunderbird SC seats. That's what I'm looking for. Only other thing is that I would rather get my seats off motors and on rails. My ADD cannot wait for the seats to move fast enough. I need instant slide action.

I can appreciate them, but it's not what I want. They are too cumbersome, tall, and duplo for my tastes. I want something a little thinner, tighter, sporty, lighter, you know..

Charlie bro,I'm just the opposite. I like my seats as thick as possible just like a home sofa piece.I like to sink in in them.I like quiet and peace inside,don't like to hear nothing but the radio...haha..

the Riv seats with full power options weigh,about 70lbs for the driver & about 64 or so for the passenger.
corbeau.com makes seat brackets for the riv. pretty pricy about $180.I called corbeau way back and they told me they dont stock a bracket but they could make one to fit.

oo! I like those thunderbird SC seats! The side bolsters are exactly what I've been looking for. The seats in the Audi R8 always made an inpression on me since it was like the car was holding you, and I've been looking for something that might do a similar job on the Riv.
