hey i forgot which head bolt went where? do the shorter ones go on the lip of the head or do the long ones go on the lip of the head? help please its been 4 months since i took these heads off and i cant remember. its a 96 superchargered riv if that matters.

im pretty sure its the long bolts that go inside the heads that hold them on. but you should have new head bolts anyway

Once you drop the head on it should become pretty obvious if they aren't all the same length. Usually if the shorter bolts go anywhere it'll be the outer corners or the outside (nearest exhaust). It's been a while since I had heads off a L67.

I'm pretty sure the longer bolts will go nearest the intake and the shorter bolts nearest the exhaust...

thanks guys got it figured out....the new inners are the long bolts and the new outers are the short ones

How are you going to tighten the bolts without the J36660 Gm tool Torque angle meter or do you have one? Or does the series II not need it ? Just curious about the procedure Reese. Don

i have a snap-on 3/8 ft. lb torque wrench, and as far as the 130 and 30 dgree angle turns i jus used a compass and 1/2 breaker bar.
