2 rear view mirror questions

1) Do you think it'd make sense to replace the auto-dimming drivers-side rear view mirror, when it eventually fails, with a tinted mirror instead of another auto-dimmer? Please comment one way or the other and state why.

2) Have you considered/installed turn signal repeaters on your mirrors or fenders, and if so could you post a pic?

I've considered replacing my side mirror with a non-tinted glass, to match the passenger side. I do not know if these exist or not, but would like to find out.
