Roadworks? Is this what GM put in here?

The reception on the radio sucks and sometimes the antenna does not come up at all.

The whole thing is being held up by some weak ass erector set bar I can bend with a finger:

At least my bonneville had a very sturdy angled bar that held things in place. Does anyone have a pic of this area or can confirm that this is right/wrong?

How much does a new factory antenna cost?

Water leaks in because I think this is not the proper assembly. I fixed it the best I could but its not a perfect fit.

Anywhere I can get a working used one?

Nope, not the stock antenna assembly. I recently had to replace mine as the core rod broke. I bought an aftermarket model similar to the one pictured and it broke within 2 weeks of installing it. Claimed to be universal for fit but needed the "erector set" bracing. Was NOT impressed. I located a used but working antenna assembly from an Aurora. It's identical to the Riv antenna. The mounting bracket for the Aurora is different than the Riv though so make sure you get the right bracing.

Mine stopped functioning when it was under warranty, and the dealership replaced it with a factory new one. However, the new one was not like the old one as GM had superseded the replacement. It still works well, but it does not have the girth, and the visual quality of the original antenna.

Does anyone have a GM part number for the power antenna assembly?
