| Thanks Deek. Yeah I'm relieved that it's working out so far. Getting to the track again and squeezing an 11 out of this is somewhere in sight now.. I managed to get the throttle body adapter done and installed today. Just need to dress the new throttle body and slap it on tomorrow morning (ok later today technically) so I can take the car to work. Was planning on riding the ninja to work but my room mates dad accidentally took my keys with him and who knows when he'll be back - he's a truck driver. So with the sealer between the blower and adapter curing, I should be ok tomorrow afternoon to drive it. Some shots I took 'cause I dunno blower cleaned and ready for the adapter Yeah I made an alignment tool for installing the adapter letting the rtv skin a little - you may notice here I machined the part of the adapter off that would be covering up the coolant ports at the bottom which I obviously am not using ever I pushed it into place from the alignment tool, tightened the screws, pulled the tool out and wiped off excess sealer - done nice alignment applied thread sealer and reinstalled nitrous nozzle The rest later.. | |

You mean 10? lol I wish. I believe 11's could totally happen. 10's no way. I think like one GP guy ran a 10.9xx in an M90 build and that was i'm sure missing a lot of weight, slicks, etc.

| Wow, the progress looks awesome! I understand being realistic about ETs (breaking 11s vs. 10s). While it would seem shaving one second is a consistent challenge, %-wise it gets more difficult the faster you go. Dropping from 12.00 to 11.00 requires a 8.4% improvement in time, while dropping from 11 to 10 secs requires a 9.1% improvement. And I'm sure there are other factors which make it even more of a challenge.
Having said that - 11.X ET is stupid quick for a Riv or any FWD car - or any car period! No need to go any quicker if you still want to drive the car on the street. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| I remember one 97 Regal I saw at Norwalk Buick Race day some years back. It had a Turbo charged 3800 that made 608 HP. The 60' times were lazy (2.2), but what a top end charge. The car ran 11.30's at 130 MPH I think. Running 11's in a FWD car is challenging. Good luck. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| Question for you - have you done anything to the halfshafts? I know a lot of people who break W-body halfshafts when they are playing with slicks. The CV joints can't take it. I don't see any other way to get faster than 11s - it's all about the launch and traction. | |

| Yup I hear that. I believe the G-bodies got larger (and stronger) CV joints than the W-bodies. Just curious if you had trouble with them. Fingers Crossed!!! | |

| At any point did you consider an M112/Gen III M90 hybrid? | |

I haven't really seen any compelling evidence to say it's better off than an M90. It'd guess it'd deliver better VE in certain states but if you look at it another way, it's like taking an M112 and giving it a undersized inlet and poor outlet placement. You get the decreased revs and that's where you can gain some efficiency in areas where it'd be starting to heat up a lot as an m90 but it's not all win even with a full on m112. You loose efficiency in lower ranges of boost and rpm where the 90 wouldn't be pushed at all as you're just turning extra mass needlessly. Bottom line IMO is it's only worth the bigger roots if it makes up for itsself when you push it and I'm not convinced the hybrid does that. It's definitely slick but I wanna see something about what it really does for peak power.

This guy doesn't go into too much detail about peak power, mainly just boost levels. Maybe we could talk to him and see if he has dyno results or something.

| I think that Codith's impressions are bang on. Its a neat exercise, but the gains are documented as limited, especially for work required. If you had a CNC machine, or one of the adapter sleeves, and the snout and rotors, then sure. But to search them out, buy/beg them, just to shoe-horn m112 rotors into the m90 case... I mean, it helps to take a bigger gulp, but adds turbulence, rotating mass, and the last 10% of the rotors do nothing. Time, money, and effort are better spent on nitrous if you want that much power. I see it in the same category as doing it as a different approach. Like bolting on two m62s, or a jagm112, mostly because you have the parts, or just because you can. _________________ | |

- Turtle, where'd you order your piping from?
The intake pipes came from Spectre. I found an online store that actually sells them at a reasonable price. The part numbers for what I ended up using are 97400 and 97690.
Here's what we got
Revised intake for gen5, IC, northstar/85mm maf
I find that no matter what you do, it's really hard to get something that nicely works around the original coolant tank. It really interrupts any straight path from the throttle body to the hole to the fender. I played with a lot of pipes and found the only way I could really do it without putting a second bend and whatnot into the intake was to grind down the bottom leg of the tank a little for clearance and enlarge the hole for the fender toward the front of the car some - maybe half an inch or so. You kinda have to enlarge that anyway to use a 4" pipe and big filter. Overall though, I think this intake is pretty damn good - easier bends than my last one and as few components as possible. And my IATs are very consistent again. Codith, do you still run with your MAF located further away from the TB? No issues?

| I had one rule. Go fast in the riv, go slow on the bike. I broke it last saturday and so now I'm a freakin statistic. I was going about 80-85 and the front tire on the bike got squirly all of a sudden. I lost control pretty much immediately and went down before I had time to do anything like slow down. Claim adjuster said the front tire separated which I kinda prognosticated because they were dry-rotted as hell since I got it. I was gonna eventually get around to replacing them. I won't eventually get around to something like that again... Aside from lots of pain and the new ability to inspect my knee cap without an xray, no bones broken and the helmet did its job superbly and saved my head. That's my shitty Memorial day weekend hope your-all's was better | |
