I picked up a 98 Riv on Monday it's a little neglected which is sad because these are great cars. It has only 78 K on it, nice color bule which I will need to repaint worst part about the car. since monday I was able to decrud the interior wash the engine, welded up the window channel and replace a couple of idler pullies. I've read lots of good info on your form I'll think I'am going to dump all may other projects and work on Rivs.

What flavor of Blue?

Well I thought welding the window channel might peak some interest. I noticed when I took the first test drive there was a 1/8 gap by the weather stripping. I read on this fourm that window seal this was a problem. When I took the drivers door apart there is a channel the window runs on towards the rear where the gap was. The window was up to high jaming on the upper door frame and the top of the window was also out to far. I discovered the the window stop bracket spot welds had seperated from the channel. This controls where the top of the window is supported. Sooo I stuck my wire feed welder into the weather stripping gap and welded the stop back on to the channel. IF YOU NEED TO DO THIS PROTECT THE GLASS WITH SOMETHING. I had to scrape some slag off the glass but did not reck it. I hope this can be help full to someone the only other way to fix it would be to replace everything and that looks like a pain in the @ss.

Got it - you tacked the channel back into place inside the door. Thanks for sharing. What would you suggest protecting the window with. I am thinking a piece of scrap such as a license plate or held on temporarily with a couple clips.

Welcome, I used to live in Wisconsin, now after 4 years out of the midwest, looks like I will be headed for Dubuque IA. Hopefully be in the new job in 60 days, then move the wife when the house here in NC sells,
Maybe we can get enough members together for a road trip or a meet & greet anyway!

Hi travis you know my hood I'am just down the road to the south next intersection. I polished my turd shimes like no other still needs a paint j0b to bad who ever owned it did't maintain it. My wife is starting to take a liking to it.
By the way it is the royal blue peral from what my paint chips tell me. I"ll try to get my poop in the group and do the picture thing. Every day I learn something new about this car, but thats for another day.
