PostSubject: weird drone   weird drone EmptyMon Aug 03, 2009 7:09 am

I was heading home yesterday, It was nice in buffalo so i let the windows down, and immediately noticed that when i was braking there was a loud low pitched hum coming from what suspect was the rear of the car. Anyone experience this, or have any Idea what it could be?

Is it just drone, or is it vibration?

Could be a front hub/bearing. See if you can make the same noise by turning the car hard around a corner left or right (without braking) at cruising speed.

Is your ABS/Trac light on? If so a garage with the appropriate computer can tell you which wheel speed sensor isn't working, which is likely the bad wheel bearing...

otherwise you need to do some careful listening with windows open in a vacant parking lot making some low speed turns and braking experiments until you figure out for sure.
