PostSubject: 99 Silver Arrow pics   99 Silver Arrow pics EmptyWed Nov 03, 2010 4:11 pm

Here of some of pics of my recently purchased 99 Silver Arrow. For some reason, it did not come with the number plate, so I am actively searching for the actual number of the last 200. But, it does have the exterior lettering and the headrests. It is, indeed, painted the U519F, or Sterling Silver Metallic. Been looking for a riv in the area...

Good luck with that Scott, the VIN is not tied to the Silver Arrow number since the SA package was not a factory installed option but a dealer installed option.

If that's true and Scott can't get it, there may still be a way. You can go to the DMV and IF you can find a helpful employee they could probably get you the name of the original dealership it was sold from and maybe the dealership could get you more info on the car. Its a long shot but you seem to be open to suggestions. There may be a way to do it via computer but I'm oldfashioned.

Isn't there a Silver Arrow registry?

And Randall since you own 2 SAs maybe you could interpolate to guess the range of this one's number based on the VINs?!? (higher. lower, or between your own).

I don't think a VIN will give the SA number, but I'll PM it to you anyway.

I think I found the dealer, or at least some business cards in the glove. Not sure if it still exists, as there is no website, but, there were several phone numbers.

Not sure if there is, but Randall gave me a guys email that's trying to catalog all Silver Arrows....

Well, it can't hurt to try right? Before I bought my Rivi, I entered the Vin into DealerWorld (GM thingy). I found out where it was built, the day it was built, the dealer it was sold to, and the first owner who bought it. Also got all warranty repair information, and all dealer maintenance done afterwards. I'm sure I can find something that can lead us in the right direction smoke

IIRC the number plate came along with the floor mats, headrests, and side insignia as a dealer-install accessroy pack, and more than one SA did not get the number plate installed.

Also it could be the car was in a collision and the plate was lost or removed in the repair.

Also it could be that the dealer prep guy didn't read the instructions for mount location for the SA plate and put is where the sun does not shine - - maybe you will find it under the hood or something.

We will see what you turn up.

Once you figure out what number it is you could have a trophy shop (like Things Remembered) engrave you a permanent plate if you want. It won't be the real one though.

That's a very Sharp car you bought. Good luck tracking down the registry number. How many miles are on your SA. What a nice looking ride. I wish that I bought one of those instead of a regular rivi.

Yes there is a SA Registry, but comparing them to the two I have wouldn't help because the boxes that were put in the trunk when they left the factory weren't in any particular order, and the SAs were not actually the LAST 200 built. Since it was an aftermarket company that made the SA options and I guess their quality control wasn't the greatest there are two SAs on the registry that have number 142 on the badge. So without the number badge it might be kind of tough to know what the number is?

With your "(GM thingy)" you MIGHT be able to find out something? Maybe one of the service writers or technicians accidently wrote the SA number on an invoice and somebody accidently keyed it into the system. If all that happened then maybe Shaun will get his answer, let’s hope so anyway thumbsup

What if he has a SA that didn't get numbered and its maybe the only one like this after thoroughly investigating its background. There is no doubting that it is what we all know it to be (a super clean limited edition SA RIVIERA)

Well, I think I will email the couple who sold it to me. Perhaps they have some paperwork laying around. The car came with almost everything though, up to and including service records, the dealers cards, etc. Kinda figured the SA book would be with all the stuff they handed me, but, no avail.. I definitely think it's strange that there is no differentiation between the SA's, whether it be VIN or otherwise, besides a plastic numbering on the dash. Seems lackadaisical for the end of a line, fantastic car.

BTW, thanks for all the positive comments, fellas.

***UPDATE***

Well, I finally returned from Europe and was able to put some work into the car. I sealed the gaskets, replaced the coupler, managed a tune-up, and had to replace the radiator. This was all excruciatingly done thanks to the fine help of these forums. So thank ya!

All that seems to be left are the biggies: The brake and fuel lines are badly rusted and need to be replaced (as confirmed by yet another mechanic). I am dreading this due to the immense cost. I need to find a place locally that specialized in this so I can at least get some of the cost down, otherwise, it'll be me taking a chance going 55 for awhile till I can save enough dough.

I was able to contact the previous owners. The car belonged to the seller's father, who passed away and apparently treated the Rivy like it was his child. He loved the car so much that the sellers thought it would be appropriate to follow his hearse/casket in the SA. Interesting, to say the least.

They have no idea why there is no number plate, floor mats, or booklets. Everything they had, they included in the glove, so the mystery continues.

That being said, those of you who think they could find the actual number of this car, PM me and I'll send ya the VIN. I'd like to get a custom number plate, eventually.

Thanks for all the kind words and hope everyone's holiday was great!
