Whistle under acceleration

Anybody ever get a wierd whistle under accel? The blower has to be "engaged" in order to hear it. I've never noticed it before. Haven't felt like tearing into it to see what it is cause it runs perfect......just curious if anyone else has a whistle

I can't make it happen unless I'm actually driving (sucking air)......It's not loud, just one of those things you notice out of the blue and say "WTF"??

Just an easy check - if you have a FWI, make sure the filter's still attached to the intake tube.

Nope, no FWI......just a completely modified factory air box. It almost sounds like a waste gate on a turbo system (like my Tbird TC) only wayyyy quieter.

I hear a faint whistle under acceleration sometimes, it's very quiet, I just assumed it was the normal intake noise. Much quieter than my old Supra's CAI.

Did you modify or remove the hood liner? I noticed a lot more belt noise when I removed mine.

You're probably referring to the normal S/C noise which is a whine.

AA, no, the headliner is perfectly intact. It only happens under part throttle at a certain RPM. Kinda like it has to have the exact amount of air coming in each time to make it happen. It's just strange.....sounds pretty cool on top of the blower scream lol. I'm due to change to my "summer" plugs this week. Maybe I'll investigate further then. Best way to describe it really is like air passing a bur somewhere and making a whistle. Kinda like blowing air out of an air chuck on an air line whistle.....

I wouldn't rule out an idler/tensioner pulley, or the alternator bearing. Sometimes they can whistle, at specific RPM.

i had a whistle when i installed the N* TB.
for some reason the way the ports are on it made it whistle while just getting into boost and made a really mean sound when i would hold first gear driving around a parking garage.
Ever since i installed the Gen V (same N*) the noise has gone away. I attribute the sound to the port on the gen 3 adapter for the N* b/c the gen V one is different.

I have a whistle under acceleration that seems to change tone with throttle position/RPM. I have investigated a number of possible causes and have no idea where it is coming from. I noticed it somewhat after a transmission overhaul and thought it might be fluid flow related. In that overhaul the mechanic replaced some plastic parts with billet aluminum. I kinda told myself that's why they were plastic in the first place to get rid of that whistle.

Then I told myself I had to be kidding myself.

Noise started around 98 - 99 thousand miles. Car now has 244 thousand on it... I may or may not figure out what it is.

I bet it's something stupid.

Well hell, if you guys have a weird whistle too, I'm not gonna worry about it....for now. I put new plugs in after work, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Eh

As long as it keeps goin forward, I spose I won't fret lol.
