Shifter Stuck in Park

Anyone have a clue what could cause my automatic to be stuck in park?

I had a misbehaving T handle on it and I got stuck downtown in park. I removed the T handle and was able to drive by thumbing the rod, no problem, but then got stuck again in park in my driveway, where it sits now.
The rod won't move down, and I'm not inclined to force it since it's plastic.

I've removed the console top, but can't identify what the hang up is. It seems physical, but I suppose it could be a switch not responding to the key.

Am stuck.

Is there a shift lock override button on a '98 Riv?

Check if your brake lights are working. My brake switch failed which caused the exact problem your describing. Make sure you get an AC Delco.

Brake lights work. Maybe it's an adjustment. Or maybe I need a shift interlock solenoid which will be hard to find.
Sometimes I wish this car wasn't made so unique.

YW, eBay isn't bad to find a bunch of stuff 'new old stock' - people in the right place at the right time buy the stuff for nearly nothing then put it for sale on eBay at some percentage of the last known retail price.  Their cost on the buy side runs from 2 to 10 percent of that retail.

That said, the newest junkyard pull unit you could find should work OK. I have not heard of these failing much at all, mine is still fine although my car is ole enough to vote (ha ha).

Yeah, I bought the NOS unit, but since I sprayed WD40 directly into the visible end of that interlock solenoid, it has stopped the sticking problem and works just fine!

Am happy to have a spare NOS part on the shelf, because like all of us, this Riv will wear out sooner or later.
There are no salvage yards near Albany, NY that I would describe as pick and pulls, to my knowledge.

It was supposed to be the interlock solenoid from eBay, but looks nothing like I expected.
Maybe it's me.
Can anyone use the part number to identify this part? I found it to be a bracket in the steering column, so that's wrong

I shall contact the seller, but I'd like to identify the part before doing so.
The photo they posted in the ad only showed the part info, not the part itself. It was described it as an interlock solenoid, which I am not sure is the case.
Anyone else know what the actual part number is from this label?
