I suppose...but I'm not BSing you...I really like the matte finish on your car and I think it accentuates the chrome.

Question, James... Is the maintenance of the matte finish difficult to maintain and does it require anything special ?

Well, quite frankly, pictures tend to hide some flaws. The car was in beautiful shape (A garaged AZ car) and the original paint was still quite shiny, but it had several small knicks and dings. Most of them came from stuff falling on it in the old fellas garage. A garage door spring had broken and scratched the hood. Stuff like that. Since I am planning to show this car, I decided to go all the way and make it really slick. It will not be a daily driver.

Well, its gonna looks awesome, when you're done. I had the bottom half painted four years ago and this color looks fantastic when its shiny. Can you take some pics of the process?

BMD: I'll be posting pics weekly as work progresses. What is your opinion of painting the rockers same color as rest of the car ?

Hmmmm, thats a tough one. I am a keep stock kinda' guy, but I have seen that done and it looks awesome. I guess it comes down to personal choice. Vicariously speaking, I would like to see 'ya do it so I can see what it looks like in our color. wink

Well, I think I will do that.

Like you, I'm basically a stock kinda guy, but I like the rod/custom look and tend to do a few easily reversible mods when I do a car.

hi Dave: I really like the way you've tricked your Riv and I have decided to paint my rockers also. Have you lowered your car yet ? I'm thinking about a 1" drop.

Haven't lowered it yet. I'm putting a tranny in it this week. If that goes well I will lower it soon. When you prep your rockers make sure to use a good primer specifically for raw urethane parts. I used USC (Urethane Supply Company) primer and mine look perfect even through a Buffalo winter. So in your climate you should have no problem.
