Seems to come from those plastic plates that are staggered and slide around by the shifter. Does anyone else have an issue with rattling sounds coming from their's? Any solutions? I just started doing this a week ago. I'm pretty baffled. frown

I think its the spring mechanism that heeps the cup holder lid up. There some play in there, especially in the open position.

you may be able to get rid of the noise with a little silicone spray lubricant.

Thanks for the tips. Giving the silicone spray on a rag a shot first. I don't want any lubricant to get in the console where the shifter is so I'll use it sparingly. Isn't there a shift lock solenoid down there? Don't want that getting dirty. lol

actually that's why you lube it with silicone spray. Silicone spray is dielectric and won't hold dirt for beans. I mean, don't drown it but a spritz ought to quiet things -- if you move the plastic plates with your finger you'll find they move about quite a bit while your shifter's at the OD detent. With car parked, unlock shifter & move to drive, then with brakes on/engine off spray some silicone spray on the plastic plates and then move 'em back and forth with your finger to spread the lube around. You should hear a difference while doing so. Hopefully this will work.

If not probably Ed Morad has/can get you a console top for short money...
