Turn signal timing relay location 96S/C Empty
PostSubject: Turn signal timing relay location 96S/C   Turn signal timing relay location 96S/C EmptyThu Nov 24, 2011 7:43 pm

Need some quick help..........
Rather than go blindly into the under dash, can someone tell me a quick/easy way to find this jewel.
It's VERY eratic and sometimes fails to flash the turn signals in either direction.
Thanks

After removing the lower dash trim panel (a few screws just under the lower dash, beneath the instrument panel) look up (you may need flashlight) and you will see a flasher for the turn signals and another for the emergency flashers. You may want to turn on the emergency flashers - they will click and the noise will make the "can" easier to find.

The flasher relay should be held in a little metal clip on the steering column support.

They are $8 to $16 each at an auto parts store **or** at a GM dealer.

The later GMs use electronic flashers or integrate the flasher into the body control computer. The last-gen Riv still used the thermal relay can. It can be replaced with a standard or HD electronic flasher. Or another thermal flasher. Cheap way out is to snag a few flashers (Buss 552) from a junkyard.
