PostSubject: '96 Riv I just picked up   Sun Jan 22, 2012 8:31 pm

I just picked this up about a week ago. Body is perfect. Paint is really scratched (Hopefully at just a clear coat level). 46k. Spotless inside and out. CD player sort of works (Likes to skip parts). Antenna gets stuck, but radio still works just fine. A little loud, but that's just from the air conditioning compressor (Needs recharged) Paid $3450, including title, tags, and inspection fees. The shift plate and the arm rest were really screwed up, but we got new ones at a junkyard that look almost new. Plan on putting in an in dash GPS/DVD unit.

Welcome to the forum! The guys on this forum are really helpful and have endless amounts of information. That's a beautiful color combination! I like the gold emblems on the white paint, and that blue interior is nice, mine is a bit more of a teal color.

Looks like a nice clean complete car. The paint on our cars is terrible. Typically, it starts to look like someone took some steel wool to it. That is the first sign. Eventually the paint starts to separate from the primer underneath. Plan on a paint job down the road. It's the only way to repair it.

That's exactly how I would describe it. A really good buffing won't take it out then?

Will grab one under the hood when I get a chance. Don't want to do it now because it's cold and dark out.

Nope. I've been down that road. I loved my 98 so much, that I had it painted. I lucked out, and had some connections. The shop that did my car, did such an awesome job, I don't think I'll ever get a paint job like that again. I paid 4200.00, and I should have paid double that for all the work they did in the 7 weeks they had the car. The ENTIRE car was taken apart, and taken down to bare metal. They did not TAPE anywhere. The scratches you see are the complete layer of paint deteriorating, not just the clear. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it will only get worse. Been there, done that, would have bought the tee shirt if there was one.

Nice

Is that the pearl white? Had a 97 some years back pearl white with tan interior. Don't see many white / blue combos. Good score on the low mileage!!!!!!
