| Hello all, I just bought -96 Riviera SC from Estonia. The reason for that was simple: these cars are way too expensive here in Finland and this example was in good condition. Data: 132000 miles Black exterior, beige interior (I'll try to take some good photos later). Thanks to forum I've got good information about this model way before I even bought the car. Known problems: 1. A/C blows only cold for driver, but passenger side is full adjustable. 2. That little 90° elbow below SC (LIM coolant elbow?) leaks. 3. Thanks to Finnish regulations I have to do some re-wiring for lights and flashers. This car is wonderful! Of course, there is significant leap from my previous cars, Plymouth Savoy 1958 and Lancia Thema 1993, but I'll try to manage and take off my MOPAR t-shirts and badges and Italian flags. |

| Hello Aaron! I don't know Timo (yet), but let's see if we meet some day. I just finished reading HVAC topics and I'll try to do some magic with actuators. |

| Welcome to the site and congratulations on finding a Riv......... Timo has a 96 SC also. Try and find out if you live close enough to Timo, I'll be sending him some Riv parts in the next week or two and I can add a pair of coolant elbows for an addition $15.00 US or so if you can't find replacements there. Here, I can get the package with both elbows for the LIM, etc. _________________ 98 Riv, 102K Miles, EBC, LS1 Ft.Calipers, STB, Addco Rr Sway Bar, 180* stat., SSAC Headers, HF Cat, 1.9's, 105# springs, MPS 3.4, DHP tuned by the Deekster.

| Hey! you boght it from auto24.ee? i think for a 96 you do not need to change much...when its +97 need to change headlights and all others. but anyways if you boght it from est and want to change rears so that they have yellow plinking lights then here is one good solution. http://www.macustom.eu/ee/gallery/57/Buick-Riviera-tagumised-LED-suunatuledand guess you need to but a black tape on the rear red sidemarkers and add a side plinking light on front. one guy in this forum moded side plinking light into the rivs mirror-. you could also truy this. anyways welcome _________________ 1996 SC |

| Hello again, yes, this is from auto24.ee. The very same seller has silver -96 for sale too. Red flashers on back are OK, but like you said I have to add yellow flashers to front fenders or side mirrors. Yellow lights on front must be disabled but can be used as flashers like they're now, and rear sidemarkers must be taped. This is crazy, but what can you do? Rickw, I'll check those elbows tomorrow and contact you if local stores cannot help. Now I feel that I'm with good guys and gals! _________________ 1996 Supercharged

| how much was the car tax(autovero)? anyways you can order everythign all by yourself tho from www.rockauto.comi ahve ordered from there tho but it just suck that need to bay later taxes for the parts. Also Rick has helped me alot on geting parts. he just buyes everythign what i need buts into one box and sends everythign on one time. buts a lether in it that its all as a gift and like the order says yo do not need to pay any taxes for a gift so i have got the pack taxfree. btw about the elbow...you can just get one O ring from any hydraulik shop and just replace them on the elbow? would be easyer. _________________ 1996 SC |

The coolant elbows are plastic and they get brittle as they age. They are on the shelf around here, and very cheap. I recommend replacing it instead of just trying to get an o-ring. (The new one will come with O-rings)_________________ '98 Buick Riviera; Gen V 3.25 pulley, N*, VS Cam, 180 stat, Custom PCM (Powrtuner), headers & HF cat , 42.5 lb inj. The tax will be something around 2500-3500 €. When I checked from our Customs, July 2008 was the last time somebody has brought Riviera here and then tax was 2500€. It cannot be much higher.
Rockauto works, I've ordered some parts for my -58 Plymouth. _________________ 1996 Supercharged

| so much as i know it goes whit the lowest price whit what the same car at the time is for sell. the lowest i have seen in finland was a 95 for 6000euro and the % how much tax you need to bay was 28% of the car price if i remember right? you can get the tax lower if you show damages on the car...big scratches ...all things what need to be fixed to get it in top shape. all this takes the tax more down. My father has imported 5 cars to finland..thats why i know.. _________________ 1996 SC |

| 28% is quite correct, on newer cars it changes between 22-31 (or more), depending on manufacturer, month, position of the moon and the amount of potential Cthulhu worshippers... It was quite hard to show real damages, but I made my best. A big dent on oil pan, rust hole (!!) under battery, covering plate of ashtray and cigarette holder was broken, some scratches on driver's seat, no warm air for driver..... let's see what Customs say. BTW I fixed HVAC actuators yesterday. MODE actuator had broken gear, the big one which turns the air flap. I changed its position 180° and now everything works. Now the biggest thing is to find proper winter tires. I should have bought them from Estonia (cheaper). Maybe Michelin X-Ice:s. _________________ 1996 Supercharged
