Hard to believe it would hit higher PSI doing that. What do you normally see?

Maybe it's not all the way closed when it works on its own?

PostSubject: Re: i've been playing   i've been playing EmptyTue May 15, 2007 2:54 pm

i was expecting to see a boost spike when I let off from WOT but not at all. I'm going to experiment further. I have a boost controller i'm going to hook up and see if it'll spit out at 8psi or so.

the only thing is that there's a second variable. When i moved the rubber vac fitting from the vacuum port cluster on the top of the blower, it just fell apart in my fingers. (really old and brittle) so i have to replace that. At the time of the video I had the resulting vacuum leak plugged off and the fuel reg was delivering non-vacuum-controlled press. (at WOT, that should make no difference at all)

I would not continue to do that, If at WOT you car goes to lean the car will open the bypass to dump boost. If you leave it on you risk damaging the engine.

theres a line that come right off the intake below the SC snout... it wraps around the back of the engine...you can tap there...

Defenatly not a good idea without a scan tool. I've had a similar mod done to my car for the last year or so, and I have to keep a sharp eye on my KR as the weather changes. The boost comes on a lot faster with the bypass blocked, but the PCM doesn't enrich the fuel fast enough to prevent detonation. If you BBV is working properly, you will not see anymore boost with it blocked open. Also, messing around like that with the FPR unhooked is just asking for a blown piston. IIRC it responds to Boost Pressure, as well as vacuum.
