I'm thinking about adding an extra cigarette outlet in some USB plugs to my car. I thought of putting them were the CD holders were. anybody else tried this

I bought an extra outlet at Radio Shack years ago. The plan was to put it in the trunk. Never got around to it.

If you do it, I'd wire the extra power outlets direct to the battery +, or the main power wire entering the fuse box. Fuse each of the outlets independently (whatever they're rated max power), and one large fuse near the main connection isn't a bad idea.

been contemplating it but dont have an extra cd holder to try it on. i was wanting to fiberglass in a 3 outlet 2 usb plug

Should be a pretty simple job. The CD holder just pops out. I replaced mine with a parametric EQ.
