Hey folks!
After not having posted for a number of years, I figured I should re-introduce. I bought my '97 Supercharged Rivi around 2001. I got the proverbial ole lady car with 15k on it. It was the first car I ever bought so it holds a lot of sentimental value.
L67 Modding was just kicking in as people warranties started to expire. Id say the vendors are still pretty clueless about Rivis but back then were even less help. Anyway despite this in 2004 I broke into the 13s with a 13.9 run. The car was tons of fun and I wanted more!
Then came the experimental mods. I installed a Thrasher cam and some experimental extreme ported heads. Long story short I blew up the engine. Sad, but then I installed an L32 engine, cam, and GenV SC, ect. This was in 2007. Then life sort of happened, and aside from moving around a bit, I also had what is best described as a mess o kids. Lots of changes but I still held on to the old Riv.
Anyway, I have to thank our host and all the Rivi enthusiasts for keeping this place going. I actually have a lot to learn from you guys which is great.
My 97 Rivi hasnt been my daily driver since I blew the engine. Right now my daily driver is a Malibu Maxx SS and my wife drives a Ford Flex Limited with the twin turbo ecoboost engine. Previous interesting rides in the past few years have been a Ford Crown Vic, Buick Reatta, and of course another Riviera. Basically I see MPG as the cost of doing business and it has never factored into any car purchase. Besides whats 10 more MPG going to get you when your find yourself 2 miles into bat country....

Was that a GNX that just got whipped?
Sorry to hear about your engine. Mine decided to give up the ghost a couple weeks ago but in that, a phoenix was born. I am in it to the very end with my Riv.
Hope to see you in the forums and on the track. And dont forget to scan this time!

I really wanna go to the track in the next 3 weeks or so - either byron or great lakes. You in any shape to go Raoul? If I don't go within that period, I'll probably go sep 27th to byron on some mustang day with some friends and make some of them look slow

Distance-wise that looks very reasonable. Gotta think about that. I was really hoping to meet up with friends that have at least one car/bike being trailered so I can bring tools and stuff and throw it in the truck or somethin you know

nice to see you back. I was going to ask in another of your posts if you had been on a posting hiatus.

I actually was scanning my riv when I retired the engine. I didnt really blow it in any spectacular fashion. Basically I was running an extreme lift cam (TEP) and some over ported heads. It died the inglorious metal shaving death. The heads fractured among other things.
The riv needs a few brake lines replaced due to rust. Mostly preventative there. And a wheel bearing. So Byron might be tough in a few weeks. If you do go to Byron I would consider bringing the Flex to a mustang day.
The flex is sweet. I like it for the same reason folks hate it I think. It was actually a challenge to find one with the ecobeast but that was a requirement for me. No Honda Oddessy for me. It is actually fun to drive and, and has been very reliable.
