Unbolt passenger seat frame? Empty
PostSubject: Unbolt passenger seat frame?   Unbolt passenger seat frame? EmptySat Nov 22, 2014 1:19 am

Hello,

I have lurked on this site for 3 years since owning my first riv. And good gravy has it saved me time and headaches. I am on my third riv after 2 were totaled from getting rear ended. My current Daily driver is a 98 In good shape with only one issue.

The Passenger seat is stuck back, over the bolts so I can't remove the seat entirely. The seat won't move forward and the front won't tilt, but the other functions work. The switch when, when engaged clicks and you can see the seat jump oh so slightly but that is it. How do I remove the seat from the frame? Also, how do you properly remove the switch? I see the screws but once removed the switch still is in snug. The donor switch I have has the gray plastic broken and I want to avoid that. Do you pry it out? Or is there a technique? Thanks for any help.

Ok so I swapped the entire frame out last night and have a functioning seat. However, neither seat heater works now. Could the fuse have been blown? Both worked fine prior to the swap.

I don't remember what that point of that video was but I kinda ran into the same trouble when I was dismantling a '98 for parts. I'm pretty sure I snuck in with tools somehow and separated the lower cushion frame from the base which is how I got to where we see in the video. There's 4 screws that drive up.
There is a 30amp fuse under the rear seat for both heated seat modules.

Thanks so much man. I actually pulled the fuse and it was busted. I must've bumped something wrong when assembling the harnesses. Now the seats are blazing hot once again.

Turtleman, did you do headers prior to your cam? I ask because I'm looking to do some more mods but I don't want it loud. My firebird is to the point of being annoying due to the loudness, and its not what I want in my DD. I looked at a 95 riv with a 98 drivetrain cammed and exhaust and it was LOUD. I am thinking a 3" catless downpipe, stock mufflers, and MAYBE headers. I just want an idea of idle volume and city speed noise before I do headers. Thanks.
