| I have parked my Rivi with the Idea of using a 4L60E out of a 3800 powered camaro and installing RWD into my 96 Rivi I plan to still use the same motor I have I know a few guys who have installed 3800s into their RWD older hot rod cars and they use the stock PCM and they only had to wire in the tranny temp sensor. They had OBD1 PCMs though and I think the OBD2 systems monitor the current of the pressure control solenoid inside of the tranny. Has anyone heard of anyone attempting to or converted their car? | |

| I've heard of a guy with a grand prix that converted it to RWD.
I don't know how much work it will take but I believe its a little more than just swapping trannys but I could be wrong.
Maybe someone with a little more info on the matter with chime in....I'll try and find that guy who has the RWD GP.

| Interesting. TType said it couldn't be done without a custom drive shaft tunnel and IIRC custom A arms in the back. | |

| besides the custom subframe, relocating the power steering pump shaft custom rear end, etc..... its not easily possible..... the easier thing to do is drop the whole engine/trans in the rear end like a fiero. the weight balance would be way off but it would be fun. a Grand prix is one thing, Riv Customization , let alon turning one into RWD is rocket science .....Let me do it first and Ill let you know how it goes. For now, start building an engine worth converting to RWD. | |

That's what I thought would be the best way, a mid to rear engine would be bad ass. I think it would work because our trunks are so large you could do it with little body modification. I wasn't sure about the front suspension though.

| The plan I have is to create a tranny tunnel and driveshaft tunnel not to hard their are sheetmetal already bent into tranny tunnel shapes its just a matter of fitting it in and building a mount for the rear suspension parts. The rear mounted engine will have alot involved you will have to extend the radiator hoses brake booster vacuum lines and lots more | |
