| Well, got the Camaro all cleaned up after the move. Changed the oil, replaced the rear brake pads, and just a general good once over. Woman has been driving it for 2 days, and some dumb bitch pulls out into traffic, and into the side of the Camaro today The woman is pissed to all hell. Cops came. Gave the dumb shit that hit her a ticket. She swiped the passenger door and quarter panel.....for some reason I feel that Karma keeps me from having anything nice. | |

| UUuuugh! Doesn't it figure, the cars you care about seem to have a target on them. The ones that are replaceable/expendable go unscathed. Hope she has insurance! Many times the reckless ones don't. (you would think they'd be more careful.. )
Sorry about the luck!

| It's a good thing (I guess) that most of the Camaro is plastic. The door damage is purely paint related, and I may be able to get it back to normal. It's scuffed up pretty bad, but intact. The quarter panel though....gah. It's creased right in the door jam.
Woman that hit her pulled out across 3 lanes and just plain side swiped her. Then she asked "where'd you come from?" Her brand new 300 needs a fender and LOTS of paint.

| Yeah, I know. Had the car out the garage for 2 days, and she gets hit. Worst part is, the woman forgot that day to put collision back on it. The most we're going to get out of the deal is $1000 from the other persons insurance company. AND, being that Michigan is a "no fault" state, we can't even take her to court for the rest. This "no fault" shit is garbage. The Police report states exactly that the other person was completely at fault, but it doesn't matter in court unless there was bodily harm.
When my Riv got rear-ended (sitting at a light) a few years back, my insurance company tried raising my rates due to this "no fault" shit. I fought tooth and nail for them not to. I was YELLING at the person on the other end of the phone on that day.....my rates stayed the same.

| I agree that "no fault" is total B.S. Since they got the ticket I'd be trying to fight their insurance company for the full amount of the repair. I wouldn't think the "no fault" would apply in that case. They were obviously at fault. | |

I don't know that no fault applies or not, but there might be a tort. Might want to talk to an attorney - a good trial attorney with some auto experience in Michigan, for a "free initial consultation" - there is not enough money in the case to interest a lawyer BUT during that free consultation you may find another way to compel compensation. No Fault was supposed to get rid of lawsuits. Lawsuit is not the same as filing a motion in small claims but you'd need to rely on the insight of an attorney practicing in Michigan not a bunch of Rivvie fans.

| There is a mini-tort. It's the $1000 I mentioned. However, the other persons insurance company already told us "no". So, off to small claims we go. #1, the persons insurance was out of state even though she had a Michigan license. #2, "she" was not listed on said policy for the car. Shits gonna get real interesting real fast. They hadn't reported it, either. I think we may have opened Pandoras Box for these people | |
