Florida Riviera Empty
PostSubject: Florida Riviera   Florida Riviera EmptyTue Jan 23, 2018 11:57 am

Hello, everyone! I am Dan, posting from the Tampa Bay area of Florida. My brother-in-law Jim was known to some of you on this board as JaMax. Jim passed away about a year ago, and I want to thank Aaron for creating the memorial thread. I have been meaning to post this introduction, and I thank Aaron for fixing the site to accept new posts again.

Jim got a lot of enjoyment from this group, and he used your recommendations in fixing up his 1995 Supercharged Riviera.  He had his mechanic go through it and get things in good shape, but then he was not able to drive the car very much as his health deteriorated.  The car has been sitting in his garage. I stop by once in a while to start it up and run it a little, but it has not been on the highway in about three years. My sister (Jim's widow) does not drive, so she has no use for the car. I will probably be posting an ad in the For Sale section soon, although Riviera owners seem like a friendly bunch, and it has been suggested more than once that I just buy Jim's car myself and join the club!

Meanwhile, I will likely post some tech questions addressing some of the little issues that I find.

I am a mechanical engineer and ASE certified master technician, but I really don't have much GM experience. I have been involved with SCCA and PCA autocrossing for many years, competing at the national level in a wide range of vehicle brands.  The only GM cars that I have owned were a couple of Buick wagons, a 1986 Corvette, and a 1996 Impala SS, and those were fairly short-term rides. I just love cars, old and new, and I respect the Riviera as a design icon that still has a strong following today.

I think it is great that you have built this forum to support fellow Riv owners, and I look forward to more interaction with the group.

Dan
