The engines used in the Buick Riviera are very common. Your car is without engine but it should still have the ECU (the computer). You can either post the VIN number and (we can) figure out which engine could be acquired to directly install, or if the car is otherwise correct if it has "SUPERCHARGED" on the trunk lid the engine is 3800 Supercharged Series 1 and if not then it is 3800 normally aspirated Series II. There are different variant of the engine for different years etc. but GM built and installed millions (I think more than 25 million) of this type engine (the "Whiskey 6" and its descendants) in vehicles up until the late 2000's. It is included on Wards Auto list of the best engines of the 20th century. The point is, they are good engines and not impossible to get. Probably is best to get engine cheaply from a wrecker (junkyard), ship it to yourself, then rebuild it or have it rebuilt.

Welcome.

Thanks for the kind words
This is different from the approach in Russia.
When I came to familiar mechanics and said:
Hey, I bought a Buick Riviera 95, they answered:
the best thing you can do with it is to sell it immediately.

This is a very rare car in Russia. Maybe I will need advice on what to do.
But I really like the Buick Riviera and I want to repair it.

As long as the rest is all there, probably just get a used working engine from salvagejunkyard in USA orCanada or Mexico.

I made a thread about Russian Rivieras - Link

I'm impressed by the number of Russians who have managed to keep a Riviera going. clap thumbsup cheers

Whichever motor your Riviera had, it was used in numerous other GM vehicles. Maybe you can find a Pontiac with the right motor.

Maybe someone can work with you to get a motor from US such as this:

https://flint.craigslist.org/pts/d/3800-gm-engine-series-less-than-10-miles/6781427062.html

Really, there are *a lot* of these engines around. I can't help you with it but who knows? Also there are freight forwarders in USA who are familiar with Russian customers and customs -- see http://www.kkfreight.com/air-freight-delivery-of-auto-parts.html -- going by the area codes on the phone numbers these guys are in the right place (Brooklyn/Queens, NY). I have not used them, but it would not surprise me to find they are legit.

The VIN is the long number on the metal plate that is riveted to the cowl. You can see it through the windshield on the driver's side in the lower corner. Is black.
