Has anyone tried to mount a universal fixed mount antenna on the Riviera? My electric one refuses to go up and down without some help. I was thing off trying to find some kind of universal mount with a screw off mast.

I did that temporarily with a 31" replacement whip from AutoZone while I was locating a replacement for my power antenna the first time. Just wrap electrical tape around that radio power lead and let it hang (tape it to the cable or some such) for the time being. There are some of the OE antennas around, although you will have to transfer your mounting bits from the Riv antenna to any replacement you get, most likely. Just pull yours then take it to a pick-and-pull to find one to pull and match up.

You may be able to get your antenna to behave by cleaning it, and perhaps opening it up and repacking the lube in the housing back onto the internal plastic cable. Just saying.

Somewhere on this board someone mentioned a guy who rebuilds antennas using metal wire instead of plastic cabling. I thought I had it bookmarked, but I can't find it. dunno

It was me, Barney Eaton fixed my antenna and it works perfectly. He said as long as the mast is not snapped. now I have it hooked up to my new aftermarket radio with a switch because I never listen to radio so I just leave it down. Either I play music off my phone or XM.
