| I'm sure I don't have this rancho shock mod. It looks like it could have been a discontinued AC Delco part number. I don't mind buying a set of stock coil springs and having them installed, I'm just afraid I may have the same problem and then I wasted ,$300. | |

| Larry, maybe I'm getting lost in the type, I need help with the front not the rear and it does say on that post that they are discontinued. | |

Well, you are talking about a shock, and we only have shocks in the rear, the fronts are struts. That's why I was confused. I thought you might already have the Ranchos. I looked for you at Bellmore Friday, but all I saw was a 1999 Riviera. Thought it might be you. His car looked too high all around, but he had P225/50R-17, and they are 3/4" shorter, so the wheel wells weren't filled. The car looked stupid. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| That was not me because I have 16" but I feel my car looks stupid as well. so if the front is struts and somebody has to be willing to either cut them or I have to buy new struts and pray they are right height? | |

| I have the Gabriel ready Struts. They sit at the right height. I linked you to the thread where I installed them with pictures and all. That way you could see the results.
This is my car BEFORE the strut install,

| I actually kept the old struts for awhile, but I junked them about 6 months ago. If I still had them, I would have removed the springs and given them to you.
The Ready Struts are easy to install. I did it myself. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| Unless someone can send you some used coil springs from a strut change? You'll have to disassemble your struts to install them. If you install the ready struts and do it yourself, it will be 200.00 + shipping. Your choice. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| It will be $350 because I'm not able to install them myself. | |

That's too bad. I try to do everything my self on both cars. Sometimes though, you have to bring it to a shop. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| I have no access to a lift, I am in the city, and I'm smart enough to know if I want it done correctly somebody else should do it. Sure wish I could cut the coils on the strut but I guess I'll wait a little bit and just replace the units.

I did mine with nothing more than a floor jack. It doesn't matter though, it's a bad idea to cut the springs. Number one, you wouldn't know how much to cut off, and two, you need to remove them from the strut. To do that, you need a coil spring compressor and an impact wrench. The ready struts are easy to install. Two big bolts at the bottom, and 3 studs at the top. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

I can only speak for the results I got with the Gabriels. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

In my experience, the first week or 2 they will ride a little jiggly but after that they settle in marvelously. | |

- I finally had my Gabriel struts and axles installed. The passenger side axle was bad and the driver side strut unit was bent. Notice the one in the back of the picture is tilted and the spring coils are much thicker. It looks like the units that came out were OE Spectrum by Monroe but it is hard to tell. The front sits at least 1" lower and has mot settled yet. I have not gone far but it feels firmer and better.
I think you will be happy with the Gabriels...

| A definite improvement. Both you and Larry said go with the Gabriel's so I did not need any more convincing than that. I also went with the the axles you suggested. The parts were hanging around since Thanksgiving for me to have them installed. | |
