Pcv baffle kit Empty
PostSubject: Pcv baffle kit   Pcv baffle kit EmptyTue Dec 15, 2020 8:46 am

A came across a maintenance guide on Facebook for the 3800 engine about off maintenance. It shows a small baffle that goes under the pcv valve on the series II supercharged engines. When I replaced the pcv valve on my car there was no baffle under it. It is GM part#12538682 and has been discontinued by GM. Am I out of luck?

...if you really want one you can get one NOS

https://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-OEM-Supercharger-Baffle-Plate-12538682-/363160342594

but I would find out why they ditched them - you truly might not want it...

If I was guessing I'd say maybe it restricted the pcv too much?

No idea. You're on your own on this one. I'd ask an experienced parts counter person at a GM dealer.

The shop manual does not show a pcv baffle so I'm not going to put one in. It does not look like there's room for one anyway. Thanks

Not that I am aware of.

The thing that puzzles me about the Riv's PCV setup is that it does anything at all. Mine has a valve stuck in the top of the SC. I have changed it every so often (when I have changed sparkplugs, about every 100,000) but I have *never* had to change it because it was blocked or whatever, it has always rattled like it was supposed to.

I don't know if they machined a baffle into the SC, they said, 'fuggeeddaboudit,' or if they just omitted it to save $1.- per car. Really, next time you are in a dealer garage just ask. I expect to be in Friday, I hope I remember to ask.

Albert
