I've been busy trying to get the best possible deal on audio and nav units. I almost made a stupid move and did not get nav, but i decided nav is the thing i really want.

Anyways, i bought a dual head unit that connects to an optional dual navigation unit with a BUILD IN hard drive. It's a harddrive based nav. The new pioneer unit based on hard drives go for over 1500$. I got this for a fraction. It's a integratedable unit or stand alone to a monitor. Since i got the compatible head unit, it's completely 1 peice.

I also got a back up cam. We all know that the Riv is a huge boat. I've already got scuff marks on the rea bumber. This is a must.
And ofcourse, a steering wheel interface module.

Made some purchases. Christmas will be early this year. Dualheadunit
Made some purchases. Christmas will be early this year. DualNav

Made some purchases. Christmas will be early this year. Backupcam

Made some purchases. Christmas will be early this year. PACAWI

I hope to have my hands on everything this saturday. I want to install everything on one shot.

I never referred to my weekly purchasing as christmas....I always thought of it has a 52 week hahnakah*. I cant wait to see the install. I plan on installing a big NAV unit where the stereo was. And eventually, Ill install a stereo somewhere, or just hook up my laptop to some speakers.

laughat You install a stereo?!? Maybe you can tap into your knock sensors and amplify the engine sound through the speakers!

I dont think any subs can amplify that engine sound any louder....not to mention it would distort the truly beautiful sound as it is now. Its probably coming up on 100 db. I need an exhaust first, cuz theres no way Id be able to hear a stereo let alone if my alternator will keep up with all the power the fuel pump takes.

The nav unit can be universal or integrated with some compatible dual units. I will connect it so they comunicate with one another. I will be able to listen to the radio or cd while the nav shows the map. Same as any of the big name nav systems. But better with it's hard drive.
If you just have a monitor, you can connect it with the A/V wires and use the IR remote that it comes with

I plan to put the cam in the license plate chrome frame. Right above the plate. If you've ever seen a Nissan murano. That same position.

I'm just afraid of putting a big screen like that in the car. Around here that would probably get stolen pretty quick even with the alarm on the car.

I'd rather one that closes into the dash but thats also more expensive.

Yesterday, i began installing all of this equipment. It actually took me longer than i want it to. Had to buy 3 wire harnesses before i got the right one. It all went well. Then the sheeth hidez the faneth.
After i got it in, i trested before close completely closing everything up. It worked. Fine, then there was a flicker on the screen. I chose not to pay any mind to it.
When i was putting the dash back in, i felt the unit, and it was really hot. Might be important, but i kept at it. Once i was showing my brother law my new cool nav, it froze. I thought it was a simple software error.
Nope! I waited and it didn't want to unfreeze. So turned the car off,and then... Nothing. the unit powers on, for maybe 5 seconds. Not even enought for the screen to light up. Then it dies off.
I reset the unit, Nothing.
Disconnected main power for a while, Nothing
Today i took it back out, and i e-mailed the seller and DUAL. Since i do have manufacture's warranty. So it looks likei won't be navigating anywhere for a bit.

but from the initial impression,it's sweet. Sounds much better than stock. The nav.. Ahh.. it's not touchscreen. You have to use the remote it comes with. The radio is touch screen, but the nav feature isn't.
