its on the throttle body.. you will need a torx screw driver to remove it......... it is a rectangle black box with 4 wires going to it............ take the screws out and pull out carefuly...........

| um, i dont know what "left side middle" you're refering to but AFAIK the MAF sensor is not pictures there. it goes in the hole right above the TB opening. looks like this on 95/96 rivs and a little different on 98+ be very careful cleaning it b/c a new one can set you back ~$200 _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Here's my throttle body after a good cleaning. I went as far as to remove the butteryfly and polish it with some Mothers aluminum polish. Came out real nice. | |

| Take the whole throttle body off and clean it. You won't believe how much better your car will run. | |

Aaron, when you get the time take yours off and have a look. It seriously only takes about an hour to do the job. Just buy a new gasket before hand and your set. You won't believe all the black crud and carbon that is built up in the throttle body and up into the super charger.

| you would be surprised how much a little layer of carbon can effect. the difference in throttle response is amazing. it was one of the first things i did to my car when i bought it back in 2005. now, rather than taking it off, i just remove the MAF screen, open the butterfly vavle and look in there with a flashlihgt _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Yeah, I need to do this. How much coolant do you lose when taking it off? Should I lift up the car on the driver side? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| if the car is completly cooled off then you may loose a pint. i think i took of the cap to loose some pressure before taking off the TB. nothing a little water cant top off. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. Maybe a 1/2 once at the most. No need to lift up the car. | |

| Hey guys,
I'm experiencing some engine choke after I start the car when it's at idle or in park. It sounds like the car is getting ready to stall out. After I rev the engine at a stop or once accelerating from a stop is when it does this. After putting my foot way down on the gas pedal it will suddenly rev way up and take off. Seems like I need to flex the peddle a couple of times to get it to wake up. After getting it moving there is no stalling or sputtering at all.
Do you guys think this is the MAF sensor? Before I had this problem, I replaced the idle air control valve so I know it's not that. Any recommendations on how to clean the MAF?

| what you describe sounds like when I was running with no maf sensor (during some tuning work). Is the SES light on? Any codes?
