FAQ: Installing Rear Speakers Empty
PostSubject: Re: FAQ: Installing Rear Speakers   FAQ: Installing Rear Speakers EmptyMon Jan 14, 2008 10:30 am

If you can tie your shoes you can do it... i couldnt imagine it being any different on the 95s... held in by a bracket and 2 bolts that are i think like a 10mm bolt... all you need is a ratchet or socket driver and if you get the adapter clips you dont even have to cut wires.... if you need a set let me know ill send em to ya. the only thing is sometimes aftermarket speakers have a little less clearance and you might have to rig them in there but it still only takes like 10-20 minutes tops.

I was wondering that myself. Are they hidden behind another lining? I wouldn't feel comfortable lying down in the trunk to try and work on the speakers.

Get in the trunk, lay on your back, and look up at the rear deck. They come out from the bottom (trunk side), I'm pretty sure. And take the remote with ya... just in case.

FAQ: Installing Rear Speakers Empty
PostSubject: Installing speakers...   FAQ: Installing Rear Speakers EmptyMon Jan 28, 2008 9:28 pm

I'm wondering, should I disconnect the negative battery terminal before installing new 6x9's in the back? If so, how do I get the rear cushion off, how do I safely disconnect and reconnect the terminal, and do I have to enter any security code after doing so to get the car to work? My Crutchfield speaker harnesses came in, and I think my speakers are coming tomorrow, so I need to know soon!

Thanks!

I just put new 6x9s in the back. I didn't have to mess with the battery at all. Just unplug the current ones and plug the new adapters back in and you should be good. I have a 98, but I'm assuming this would be the same for you as well.

i'd return those connectors UNLESS you wanna REALLY SUPER CLEAN LOOK.............. just splice the wire and wire the positive to the positive and negative to negative....... I HAD NO IDEA what i was doing and it worked..... iff you can plug in a mouse to a computer or hook up a speaker to a reviever in a TV you should do this with NO PROBLEM grimace grimace

GOOD LUCK MAn

FAQ: Installing Rear Speakers Empty
PostSubject: Re: FAQ: Installing Rear Speakers   FAQ: Installing Rear Speakers EmptyMon Jan 28, 2008 10:14 pm

Well, I bought them so that I wouldn't have to deal with cutting and soldering wires. Should I ever have to take the speakers out again, I'd much rather it be easy than hard. Besides, they're already here, and I'm asking about the battery.
Thanks anyway.

If you are just replacing the speakers, just make sure the radio is off when you do it. No need to disconnect the battery for that IMO.

agreed, disconnect it.
I dont see how you could screw something up by not disconnecting it, but everytime I screw something up I never see it coming anyways.

Anyone care to tell me how to go about doing that, and is there a security code or something that I need to make the car work after I reconnect it?

no security code unless you have after market security or head unit (then you should already know the code wink )
to remove the rear seat cushion, stand in the back floor slace, grab the edges of the cushion and lift up. it should unlatch pretty easily. then it should slide out. to put it back, just slide the plastic tabs in the holes on the lower back of the seat and push down on the front to secure it.

as long as your key isn't turned you'll be fine.. besides.. it's low voltage, nothing to fear. i'll take that shock over a 240v range circuit anyday..

what kind of speakers did you get? My mom got a new car and the sony xplod 6x9's she had in the back of her regal won't fit in her new Kia.. so she's giving me those, hopefully they're worth a crap lol

Infinity Reference 9623's. They're 3-way 6x9's, so each one has two tweeters. I haven't ordered the front speakers yet, nor the amp, but I'll get on those later. For now, the 6x9's come tomorrow, and I made sure that my harnesses from Crutchfield fit. I'll tell you how they are, they sell for $150, but I got them new on Amazon for $90, AFTER shipping!

no need to disconnect battery when replacing only the speakers. just wire them up with key off. you'll be fine.
