| Same viscosity doesn't mean it has all the same properties. I'll stick with the proper fluid unless I see an EATON release stating this substitute is ok. It's already known that the manuals list such an alternative for the M62 cars, but the service manuals for M90 cars do not list any alternative fluid. The proper fluid really isn't expensive... If you can afford to own and mod your car... JMHO | |

| I have a pse remanned supercharger, It came with 5-30 mobil 1. The company said when I change the oil to just use mobil 1. I also have a lifetime warranty on my sc. (Until I drop a pulley size! he he he) | |

| Why would you even risk it? Like Dave said, it's not that expsenive to buy and it will give you peace of mind. | |

| I've used both. The m62 works fine with 5w30 mobil 1. Used it for a few years. But i prefer to have the "right" thing, so I use "real" SC oil.
As was stated, might as well use the designated fluid as its cheap and easy to find. IMO _________________

The company said when I change the oil to just use mobil 1. I also have a lifetime warranty on my sc. (Until I drop a pulley size! he he he) Your 95 would be running an M62, which does spec such an alternative in the factory manual. Buick saw fit not to list an alternative for the M90 cars, likely with good reason. I'm puzzled that so many guys want to find a "cheap" alternative to the fluid that Eaton themselves provided with their M90's. You don't need to replace the fluid more than every 30k miles or so, not like a 3k oil change 4 times a year.

| I guess some want to try an alternative just to be different. That's the only reason I can think of, anyway. There's certainly no disadvantage to sticking with the recommended SC oil. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| that might be true rw. the stock oil was thin to say the least. this stuff holds its viscosity pretty well. wish i could remember the place in cali that i bought my s/c pully from? but these guys have been in business for years and when i mentioned gm s/c oil they dont use it. sed they only use theire stuff. for rebuilds and anything else that comes in theire shop. i trust the guy. and so far so good.......... | |

| I gotta' admit, I don't understand why the stock oil uses FAT instead of mineral oil and the wonderful world of chemicals (like Lucas...)
I've changed my oil twice in less than 20,000 miles, because it was SOOO stinky when I bought the car, and I don't wanna' have to go into the blower. I'm also of the mind that the 'good' stuff is cheap enough not to mess with, but for something that spins that fast I'd rather have something synthetic...

| mobil1 5w30 is full syn. and the lucas is 100% petrolium. its a friction reducer that reduces temps and mixes with anything! the stuff works. i bought the gm stuff, added it,smelled it,and it made the s/c noisy . this stuff quiets the s/c operation. thats a good thing. all i hear is the whine. | |

| Actually, fresh GM oil has no smell... It's the worn out oil that has the rotten fatty acids in it. The oil that I changed after only 12,000 miles, to get the last of the original stuff out, was a LOT less stinky that that first batch of rotting cheddar. Since the bearings don't appear to be anything special, and the blower does indeed have a vent through the shaft, the only thing I can think of that needs a 'special' oil blend is the coupler material... | |

| ok. i cant understand why they market an oil specific for s/c? every bud i know with s/c in their car, 300hp up to 1000 hp. run either tranny fluid or syn oil. they scoff when i speak of " special oils" to avoid being laughed at i no longer bring it up... | |
