If you are seriously considering ls1, rwd swap, I seriously doubt you can do it for less than 15k, unless you are one awesome fabricator.

werd..although corey does weld...its going to take some serious suspension mods, basically back halfing the car to hold a rear diff... i agree with Jason

i got all the tools a work mig tig welders, CNC machine, mandrel bender, pretty much everything i will need, this is also why i brought up the cowl hood thread. my goal is to have it look stock, other then lowered and 18s and paint but other then that look stock. although this wont happen till next winter when i have the riv in our new garage.but it will be happening

Save your money and bide your time, by next winter the world will be a different place car technology-wise. Production PML Flightlink wheel motors will either be available or a few months away. Two of those will rape your LS6 to the tune of 1000+ instantaneous lb/ft of torque and you can still put two on the front wheels. There's a reason why the fantasy Rivs in my sig don't specify a rwd V8 conversion.

The rear suspension will need to be beefed up to handle the power but that's nowhere near the amount of work involved in swapping a rwd axle and driveshaft in. God only knows where you'd route the exhaust with the driveshaft taking its place.

ur best bet is probably to get a cadillac 4t80-e trans, and mount that up to the engine.....but ur problem is still gonna be the fact that ur still gonna be slower than mine by the time you get it finished.... u could maybe pick up an 4.2L inline six with all wheel drive platform for cheaper and easier than an entire MR conversion. and with the right reworking and a big ass turbo, u can push 1000+ HP......Thats just what I "would" do

Theres Plenty of simple mods you can do to that LS6 to make power.an hell if your that inclined some mild internals,and a nice vortech centrifugal blower an the right tune,you can make 1000 outta tha LS6.. I think its a cool project,and will be very unique.

but it seems no matter what anyone does your still going to be slower than 97rivman.. LS6 Swap Manos

Isn't 97rivman making good points? 1000hp to the rear with 67% (?) of the wieght on the front tires sounds inferior to the AWD plan to me.

well i doubt it would have that much of a forward weight bias if it was converted to rear drive as the transmission would be more centered in the car , the engine would be mounted further back behind the front ( most likely) and the rear axle would add a few pounds to the rear end too... i think you'd get a car with a bias in the high 50s forward at worst...with 1000hp however you wouldnt be able to put hardly any of it down until about 120 ( at best) unless it had slicks or very wide rears ( think pro-street tubs) ... i recently read an atricle testing the lingenfelter z06 w/ over 1100hp and it only ran about 2 tenths quicker in the quarter with double the horsepower and on the street it would probably be even if a regular z06 and the lingenfelter raced below 100... it made it to 200 in 18.9 seconds though ...so yeah i think the awd would be the most streetable setup. but 1000hp rwd car sounds pretty fun to me.

Ofcourse, an AWD setup would be awesome, cheaper an easier? maybe, but at 1000hp you will break drivetrain components..there goes the *cheaper* i dont have any clue what chassis he speaks of,is it just the drive components? or an actual frame you will set the body on?

it will all depend on what kind of suspension the rwd setup will get.

a built 12 or 14 bolt rear end,and a Tremec 6 spd gear box...there ya have it. or mate a complete vette rear suspension/trans right under the back....remembering the riv body will be heavier than the vette,which is a big chunk of fiber glass.

TonySmooth89 - It begs the question of when the Vette will go AWD, doesn't it?

TType_Riviera - Aren't their Vette suspension kits for muscle cars?

The idea of a Riv with the Vette's rear end and rear mount transmission is interesting. I'd think you'd need to put loads of track time into tuning the suspension afterwards. Who knows how it would behave?
